Sometimes a character comes from modest, but comfortable conditions prior to entering a life of adventure. This broad category could include anything from a skilled technician, minor political official, professional soldier, or any other lifestyle that typically involves hard work—but with the pay to make it worthwhile.

Privileged
Some Smugglers have lived the good life but lost everything. Some may have even purposefully left wealth behind, tired of the strings attached or dreaming of a life of adventure and glory.

Motivation

Wanderlust / Novelty
The character is driven to explore the galaxy and rarely stays in one place for long. They're motivated to uncover remote or unexplored regions and seeing everything that can be seen. Alternatively, this character is driven to experience new sensations and activities, perhaps rather hedonistically.

Obligations

Criminal (5)
Smugglers are by nature criminal, but some manage to stay off authorities' radars better than others. It’s only a problem if a Smuggler gains a criminal record. This Obligation may involve avoiding a particular system where the character has a criminal record or hiding their involvement in a crime big enough to interest the authorities. In the event that the criminal record is undeserved, the Smuggler might work to expose the real perpetrator.

Betrayal (10)
Given the nature of their job, a Smuggler might find themself a victim of betrayal or a betrayer themself. If the victim, a Smuggler may seek vengeance on those who crossed them. If it was the Smuggler who let a fellow criminal down, then they must make amends somehow. In minor cases, a simple apology may be all that’s needed. In extreme cases, the betrayed party might need rescuing from the spice mines of Kessel or somewhere equally unpleasant.

Paired Weapon/Optimized Energy Cell (Blaster Pistols)
1 HP (each): Must be applied to two weapons at the same time. Reduces the Advantages required to hit with the secondary weapon when two-weapon fighting with this pair of weapons by 1.
1 Hp (each): When the GM would spend Despair or a number of Threat to cause the weapon to run out of ammunition, it requires additional Threat to have that effect apply to this weapon.

Q4 Quickfire
Add 1 Setback Die to a character's Perception checks when attempting to find a Q4 Quickfire on a person's body. The power pack must be recharged instead of easily replaced (a process that takes ten minutes). If this weapon runs out of ammo due to a Despair result, it may not be reloaded by Extra Reloads, the Spare Clip talent, or other means.

Concealment Holster
Concealment Holsters add 1 Setback Die to Perception checks to discover the presence of the concealed weapon, but may only hold light blaster pistols or holdout blasters.

Punch Dagger
Add 2 Setback Die to a character’s Perception check made to find a Punch Dagger on a person’s body.
