Background
Like most everyone on Kafrene, Flop grew up knowing only the seedier side of life. Born to spice-addicted parents who never seemed to care one kriff about him, he was taking care of himself before he hit double-digits. Coincidentally, this was around the last time he saw either of his parents. His father, Shayn, left a note saying he wasn't coming back. His mother, Kandia, didn't even bother with that.
Fortunately, even at a young age Flop was quick on his feet and quick-witted with a knack for finding his way into and around places. He was able to latch on with a low rent bounty hunter's guild called The Hidden. At the bottom of the pecking order they were basically a street gang that used its guild license to legitimize themselves and scoop up the occasional bounty.
He started as a courier and scout alternating between the two roles. Some days he spent running full speed through the streets. Others he spent motionless, watching the same place for hours, even days at a time.
Low man in the organization, his pay was meager especially as he was reluctant to get his hands dirty. Most of the time he made due. Sometimes, when between scores or when he himself had been robbed, he needed to earn more to get by and that meant a more active role, usually driving getaway swoops through the asteroid's narrow streets or on the occasional off-world job. He hated having to turn to that, but starvation would have been worse. Unfortunately, the older he got, the more he was forced to drive.
Flop's life might have continued that way forever if not for one disastrous job. Details are sketchy, but two innocents were killed and a dozen more injured when a pickup went incredibly wrong. The crew he was with had decided to shoot their way out, innocents be damned.
He found himself wracked by guilt, even though it wasn't his fault. He tried to leave but found out it was, in some ways, easier to join The Hidden then to get out of one.
Sorlo "Shade" Torr, a female Snivvian and the gang's latest, most ruthless leader, lashed out in extreme anger at any slight including anyone trying to leave. When she found out about his discontentment, she ordered his pay cut and he was given the worst assignments until he "learned some gratitude."
However, this had the opposite effect. Flop raided the Hidden's supplies, put together a small bankroll and fled, making his way across the galaxy, determined to put as much distance between him and Shade as possible.
After a year of lying, begging, sneaking and the occasional petty theft, he found himself on Bynerria. There at an underground swoop race, he met a Falleen with a penchant for going fast who suggested a new path.
Motivation
Wanderlust - The character is driven to explore the galaxy and rarely stays in one place for long. He's motivated to uncover remote or unexplored regions and seeing everything that can be seen. Alternatively, this character is driven to experience new sensations and activities, perhaps rather hedonistically.
Duties
Support - The Rebel Alliance succeeds because of teamwork. From a vehicle, Aces are able to support missions by providing escorts, mission insertion and extraction, sensor data, communications, and more. Flop is devoted to helping his fellow Rebels achieve their Duties by providing whatever assistance they need. Although he may not get the same amount of reward or recognition as the people he is helping, Flop has many more opportunities than his allies do to fulfill his Duty to the Rebellion.
Description
"Twiglike" best describes Flop. He is of above average height but scrawny (5'10" and 140 lbs), probably from missing too many meals. Not even 18, he looks younger still. He's got pale skin, light eyes, and a wide smile, all of which give him a pleasant, youthful appearance. He has a mess of brown hair that he never bothers to style, but somehow works for him. You'll usually see him dressed plainly in simple, muted tones, preferring durability and utility to aesthetics.
A natural introvert, he tends to blend into the background and is often awkward when thrust into the spotlight.
