Background

Second of a litter of 4 on Cathar, Syp’riin was born to Tumir and S’rava Myaon on the 11th of Selona, 26 BBY. The city-tree’s holy elder ran blood tests on the litter and found, much to the Myaon parents’ surprise, that Syp’ riin was force sensitive and soon proclaimed such to the whole city. However honoured his parents might’ve felt for such a blessing, they were far more sorrowful, as they understood that they’d likely never see him again once he was taken by the Jedi. Recognizing this, the holy elder instructed them to return to him with Syp’riin in one year’s time, then he’d forward the blood test to the Jedi Temple. They made the most of their time with their son while they could, including taking him on hunts with them, overseeing his play with his siblings and trying to get him to speak. He was just starting to form sentences by the end of the year. Upon returning to the Elder, he’d hold up his end and send the results to the Jedi Temple, who’d promptly send a member of the Acquisition Division to retrieve the child.
Until he was ready to begin formal training, Syp’riin spent a year and a half in the care of Jedi Fosterers. For the first month he was said to have cried profusely and violently rejected handling, though he’d eventually mellow out, displaying a skittish and defensive demeanour at worst. He was eventually placed into a clan of other force sensitive children with whom he’d begin basic training with. He never took interest in his academics, only ever doing enough to pass. He did, however, take great enjoyment in physical training in which he honed his natural agility and displayed his species’ characteristic fiery temper and strong emotions. His instructor took notice of this and ordered him to practice Empty Meditation 9 times daily instead of the standard 5 to have him focus specifically on controlling and suppressing his latent temper. At first, this demand frustrated him as this would completely eat away at whatever personal time he had between classes as well as a good portion of his sleeping hours, but with sufficient support and collaboration with his fellow initiate Sabrine Tar'milla, he’d begin to find it bearable. He most often took enjoyment in climbing into obscure and secluded places within the Jedi Temple for meditation, instead of practicing in the clan dormitory or in designated meditation chambers, unless his comrade protested. Whilst purging his inner rage he found himself tuning into the force more and more producing an intriguing kind of invigoration. Heeding his curiosity, Syp’riin focused hard on channeling the Force throughout his body. At first this served to temporarily ward off his daily fatigue, but after continued practice he’d learn to use it to bolster himself physically and strengthen his species' natural affinity for health regeneration which helped him in recovering from losses suffered in training duels. Noticing the benefits, he began to pursue ways to channel the Force through himself from moment to moment. With a new understanding of his emotions and a strengthened connection to the Living Force, Syp’riin began practicing other methods of meditation to see what other benefits he could reap from the Force that would help him in the trials ahead.

Motivation

Natural World: Syp’riin adheres to the Living Force believing that it guides him from moment to moment through his instincts. As such, he recognises that it permeates, connects and influences all of life, and tries to do as it wills.

Help The Helpless: Syp’riin recognises that there is too much wrongdoing in the galaxy and has a powerful compulsion to help all those who need it and do good for others, and punish those who cause needless hurt.

Morality

--Righteousness/Spite(+10XP): Instead of suppressing, Syp'riin utilises his nature, as he believes it helps him work in harmony with the Living Force and draw strength from it. This reallocation of his inner ferocity allows him to better defend others and himself in a variety of ways, and allow the Force to guide him to success. This reliance on his fiery nature however leaves him prone to being spiteful and disdainful of others who don't earn his respect. Like the lion stands as king of his pride he will not suffer rivals nor threats to his reign and domain. Anyone who dares to forget his dominion is subject to his scorn and aggression should he lose control of himself.

1. What are your character's core moral beliefs?

Live in the moment. Be loyal to those close to you (or those who perceive you as close to them). All things are connected. Work for the benefit and good of all. Order and chaos are tools to bring about good, respect the roles of both. Laws, orders and rules are to be broken if and only if the outcome results in good for those affected. Betrayal is abhorrent and dishonourable. A worthy opponent is to be respected as it is those types of people who promote your growth. Treat all things equally and fairly. Any injustice cannot go unpunished or uncorrected. Your word is your bond but such a rule is flexible when it comes to those of questionable alignment. Help those in need. Needless cruelty and malice are dishonourable. Trust your instincts as they’re the best way to work in concert with the living force.

2. What relationship does your character have with their non-Jedi family? Who else do they consider family in the order? (Ask me if you have questions about who they'd know closely)

If asked he’d say he remembers flashes of moments and scenery, more importantly he remembers how it felt to be with and then suddenly without his family. He’d likely go back to visit if given chance

3. What is your character's opinion on the Republic, the CIS, the Jedi Council, the War, and the Jedi's involvement in the war?

From what he understands about the Clone Wars, Syp’riin neither approves of the Republic’s escalation to all out warfare, nor does he enjoy the Jedi’s use as glorified soldiers. At the same time he’s not entirely against the CIS for secession, as he can tell that corrupt bureaucracy drowns out the needs of real problems of real and suffering people within the Senate. However, innocents were now dying anyways as both sides have gone to their extremes. It’s a bad war that he just wants to end. Worser still, the Jedi Council seemed too haughty for his liking. Of the stories he read of The old republic’s Jedi, the order seemed now to be...losing its soul.

4. Describe your character's typical appearance? Youngling Robes are standard, but you'd likely be able to wear other things outside of classes, and also customize your robes a bit if you wanted.

Syp’riin particularly disliked the feeling of the rough fabric of Jedi robes against his fur as well as wearing boots that forced him to retract his claws, creating a kind of trapped feeling. Though meditation in the attire eventually built a tolerance to the feeling, he felt best with lighter fabric over his fur. His preferred outfit was a lighter, looser pair of pants without boots and a light weave tunic. Typically he’d allow the looser tunic to fall from one shoulder, exposing that part of his torso but after realising it was probably best not to appear as such while walking through the Temple, he decided to acquire a very long Maroon sarong to wear under his tunic, wrapping it around his waist and over one of his shoulders, letting that shoulder be exposed.

5. What is your character's hopes for their future in the Jedi Order? Would they be satisfied being relegated to the Jedi Service Corps?

Syp’riin couldn’t see himself relegated to the service corps. He’d rather take an actuve role in helping people and securing the Galaxy. That said, he feels as though he wouldn’t have been taken from his family and forced to work tirelessly against his very nature if not for some grander purpose. Certainly grander than the service Corps, in the very least, though that might just be a flicker of pride

6. What is the character's biggest mistake they have made? Since you're young, another option would be their greatest regret or some dissatisfaction with their life.

Syp’riin has challenged his fellow youngling Abe to duels during training and has lost many times due to the latter’s preening. This has hurt his pride in multiple levels as he doesn’t enjoy people acting nor being better than him, rivals are not his forté. He uses these losses to fuel further meditation and practice to tap into the force and empower himself.

7. What is your character's greatest fear? Do they have multiple major fears? Are they totally aware they have these fears? Can be as reasonable or irrational as you wish.

He has an intense fear of what harm he could do if he ever fully gave into anger; the warnings of his instructors always weigh on him in that regard. Otherwise he is very wary when it comes to new people and things, leading him to observe from a distance until he builds a comfort level.

8. How committed is your character to the beliefs and values of the Jedi Order?

His adherence to the Jedi Code is flexible as he finds certain issues with some of their values. For instance, he feels that the outright purging of his emotions feels like an insufficient way to govern his being, Attachment can strengthen the resolve to do good, and inaction is dishonourable and unacceptable. That said, he follows the Jedi philosophy of following the Living Force over all else, living within the moment and trusting his instincts.

9. Does your character care about how they're seen by others? How do they change themselves to fit in with other people?

The opinions of others don’t expressly concern him unless criticism is coming from his instructors or a member of his clan that he personally respects, then he’d consider it, otherwise he’s content not exactly fitting in

10. If your character could make any wish, what would they wish for?

The altruistic answer would be for an end to the war and reform in the Republic to make it more efficient at actually adhering to the needs of its citizens. The more personal answer that he’d only ever tell someone close to him would be be able to somehow harmonise with the ebbs and flows of all his emotions instead of being relegated to purging the negative ones… also he wants to go on a Catharese Blood Hunt one day, he’d read stories of Cathar jedi going on them and really wants to do one for himself.

Description

Syp’riin is slightly taller for his age of 7, standing at about 4’5” with a strong healthy build. Being of the dominant, more feline subspecies of Cathar grants him a body covered in peculiarly pale blonde coloured fur with pale golden striations. He has a face very similar to that of a white lion cub with yellowy-orange eyes, near-whitish coloured fur on his chin and darkly coloured lips and eyelids. His mane has grown to full shoulder length but is a very pale gold-ivory colour like the rest of his fur, though for his age, it should've darkened by now. Curiously, the only other parts of his fur that's darkened (barring his stripes) is that of his large pointed ears that peaked just out of his thick hair, both sporting a darkly coloured rimming. Above his eyes are the distinct teardrop marks characteristic to lions. (so yeah essentially a white lion cub.... with stripes)

Syp'riin wears a standard jedi youngling attire, personalised as an umber overtunic and a sienna undertunic with an obi of the same colour. he often pulls his left arm out of the tunic letting the left side of it hang from his waist (like a kyudo archer's). underneath his tunic he wears a maroon sarong that he wraps around his waist and left shoulder, similar to how one would wear a sash, so as not to entirely expose his left side. he often lets the excess length of the sarong to hang from the small of his back like a tail of sorts. over all of this he wears a dark robe that conceals his face, even using his sarong to wrap over his face for added obscurity.

Other Notes

-Goes by Myaon in the presence of the clan, due to Sabrine's name being similar to his phonetically. The only people he answers to when addressed by his first name are Roca, The clan's master, and Sabrine
