Ziana was born on the Csilla, the homeworld of the Chiss and capital of the Chiss Ascendancy, with the purpose of acting as a shadow-child. Shadow children are born to help secure the future of their House should anything untoward happen to their Aristocra and immediate family. As such she was never viewed as part of the family but rather as an insurance policy.

As a shadow-child, Ziana was raised separately from her family and attended the Chiss Academy to develop analytic and military skills. She also received combat training to provide protection from assassination if her identity was discovered. To avoid her force-sensitive nature being revealed, Ziana fled Chiss space to further develop her sensitivity to the force and continued to only be known by her core name, Ziana.

After her exodus, Ziana has struggled to find a true purpose and instead has begun to explore utilizing her talents as a bounty hunter. She is using her innate strategic gifts and precognition to aid in her new career as a bounty hunter. This career gives her the freedom to learn more about the force to use to her advantage.

"The Chiss had no native Force-using traditions, and Force-using Chiss were very rare among other traditions such as the Jedi and Sith. This was because Chiss society considered Force sensitivity to be a shameful impurity. Those few Force-sensitive Chiss were not allowed to cultivate that talent within Chiss society. Any Chiss found to be using the Force within the Chiss Ascendancy was immediately executed, without exception. Chiss of lower social classes that were Force-sensitive were exiled from Chiss society, while Chiss of higher social standing would be allowed to use medical means to suppress their Force talents. Their abilities diminished as they grew older and eventually disappeared. Force-sensitive Chiss that were exiled sometimes joined the Jedi or Sith, but that was rare."

Whether it's as simple as a betrayed confidence or broken promise or as serious as treason or mutiny, the betrayal eats away at the character and affects their everyday life. The target of the betrayal may seek answers, compensation, or simply revenge."

Ziana has the typical coloring of a Chiss, black hair and blue skin with pupil-less red eyes. Her long hair is often secured by a messy long braid partially wrapped into a bun to make the length manageable in combat scenarios.
