Background
Beginnings: The Down & Out
Ryn was the youngest youngling at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the Second Jedi Purge. He was smuggled offworld by a padawan in secret, however, the padawan could not ensure safe passage in returning Ryn to his parents on Ord Mantell. They made it as far as Nar Shaddaa, where Ryn was captured by the Black Sun. The padawan never returned for him and Ryn cannot remember the padawan's name due to his age. He is presumed dead or in exile.
Reason for Adventure: Opportunity Knocks
Ryn was unsure why the Black Sun took him in after capturing him, however, they taught him the life of crime that he lives today. He was trained to be a smuggler, fixer, wheelman, and "face" for local crime lords--a very useful skill set on the Outer Rim, and in high demand. As a constant thrill seeker, Ryn performs his best when the pressure (and eyes) are all on him. His constant need for danger makes him cunning, wily, and clever, but also puts him in harms way--often times at great peril. He is compelled to the adrenaline rush he gets from winning with everything on the line.
Attitude Toward Force: Pragmatic Power
While Ryn was never trained in the ways of the Force at the hands of the Jedi, he does recognize a strange feeling around him when clearing his thoughts of all but a singular voice, committing his entire will to the thought. It's as if he can manifest his will in small ways in the physical realm. As an untrained, unfocused Sensitive, he has no concept of the Light and Dark calls of the Force, and little formal concept of the Force itself. As such, he recognizes his uniqueness as "luck" or "chance" being in his favor (with a little helping hand from his will). He uses his powers purely to gain the upper hand on the situation, and has (on certain planets) earned himself a reputation as the owner of loaded chance cubes... which he insists is purely his great "luck of the roll."
Extra Details:
As Ryn grew older, he also grew in equal parts skill, success, and pride. The Black Sun, however, had been savvy in their lifelong scheme for him. As Ryn sets out to seek his fame and fortune (or at least get the next rush) as a bounty hunter, the Black Sun has begun blackmailing him, first by threatening to tell his gambling "friends" about his (alleged) cheating. True or not, they won't care--they'll want their pound of flesh.
As Ryn grows more obstinate, their true plot reveals itself--they demand his presence with their most suicidal missions, lest they capture him to collect on the Empire's bounty on Sensitive exiles... and likely, send him to his execution.
Motivation
Obligations
Addiction (magnitude 10):
Ryn is an adrenaline junkie. He is constantly seeking the next big thrill and is prone to taking extreme risks for massive (or sometimes even small) pay-offs. This leads him to constantly show off, seek attention, and to go down famous (or infamous). This tendency manifests in his hobbies and behaviors as well--gambling and racing the clock evading Imperial patrols. His creed is "Paradise is a pair of dice," and he always carries with him his trusty pair of chance cubes.
Blackmail (magnitude 10):
The Black Sun knows of his past and how much he's worth to the Empire--dead, or alive. They use this information (and their history raising him) to blackmail Ryn into participating in heists, bounties, and missions for the Black Sun against his will.
