Background

1. Gand has always been force sensitive, even if he didn't know it. While this is true of all Gand, this particular Gand had powers beyond those of his fellow Gand, powers he didn't understand and tried to hide while on Gand and Nar Shaddaa. He turned to addictive substances in an effort to suppress these powers, and while they were successful at this, they also ripped apart his body and destroyed his mind while he was on them, which was basically all the time.

2. Upon arriving on Nar Shaddaa, Gand sought out the bounty hunters, believing them to be the only possible source of income for Gand. He traveled with them, robbed with them, killed for them. His conscience was torn apart, and eventually he stopped listening to it altogether.

3. The Jedi Knight I saved later on promised to return the favor, and took note of my aptitude for the force, having used it to defeat the other Gand. I replied that it was my pleasure and he did not have to reward me, but that simply made him all the more insistent that I come with him. I considered my current life of addiction and misery, and decided that going with the Jedi was probably my best choice of action, especially considering what the consequences would likely be if I returned without my comrades or the Jedi.

4. Before my addiction, while I lived on Nar Shaddaa I encountered another Gand. She was not a member of the bounty hunter guild like most Gand were. Rather, she was on the run from the bounty hunters for not refusing to execute an innocent person with a bounty on their head. Instead, she told him to get off of Nar Shaddaa, told him of a secret starship, and let him go. What she didn't tell him was that the starship she had given him was her own, and now she was trapped on Nar Shaddaa. We hung out a few times, we made out once, but all in all she was nothing more than a good friend. One day, she disappeared, and that same day my stim and alcohol addiction began.

5. When he was approached to join the Gand bounty hunters' guild, Gand was wary at first, but he could not fight the desire to finally belong to something larger than himself. After joining, his first mission, being a findsman, was to hunt and either kill or, preferably, take alive a Jedi Knight somewhere on Nar Shaddaa. Utilizing his skills, he found the Jedi relatively easily. The Jedi refused to go without a fight, and while his fellow Gand decided to fight him, he could not. When he saw that the Gand were overpowering the Jedi, and the Jedi was crying out for help, he murdered the Gand and helped the Jedi to escape.

Gand is grand. Gand woke up on Nar Shaddaa with no memory of his previous life. All he knew was noise from all the life on the smugglers moon, and it tore him apart. He could not get the incessant voices out of his head; not even a tinfoil hat would work. So he went deep down into the underground, so far down that he was on the ground floor, seeking peace and serenity from the noise above him. He was having immense amounts of trouble trying to find some semblance of peace, and although there was still noise, it was at least quieter.

Gand had heard rumors of the Jedi. And while he knew very little of this religious sect, he had picked up a couple of things, both from his acquisitions in his current life as well as instinctively remembering things from his past life, such as meditation. To clear out the distractions of Nar Shaddaa, even at the lower levels, took great effort and dedication, but it was still not enough.

Gand, while already mildly force sensitive, was going mad when he was found by [JEDI MASTER]. He was pacing back and forth, distracted in his meditation in a desperate attempt to bring back his old memories, memories which he could feel being remade within him, but would not return, and becoming increasingly frustrated with each time he tried to meditate with all the life around him. Gand simply did not have the skills required to shut out the sheer amount of life on Nar Shaddaa, and it was driving him mad, nearly to the point of suicide.

He remembered some vague parts of his past life: a desire to become something greater than the Gand of his homeworld, wanting to be an individual, but he could not recall how he ended up on the smuggler's moon.

He remembered some vague parts of his past life: a desire to become something greater than the Gand of his homeworld, wanting to be an individual, but he could not recall how he ended up on the smuggler's moon. Maybe he had his memory wiped. Maybe he had been disconnected from the force. Maybe he had simply taken a bump on the head and simply lost his memory. Gand had no idea, and thus did not trouble himself with trying in vain to remember. Instead, he sold his services, his slightly force sensitive services, as a bounty hunter. And although the very idea disgusted him to no end, what else was he to do to make money?

Eventually, Gand became sick of Nar Shaddaa and determined to leave, to seek his fortune and, to a lesser but more important to Gand, fame. He knew that Gand were supposed to be a collective, but he remembered enough to know he wanted to be an individual. He wanted his own name. Whether that desire came from Gand or elsewhere, he felt it in his heart, and he was more in tune with his feelings than any Gand he'd met. He could see the future to some extent, and he found he could balance relatively easily, far easier than his fellow Gand, on one hand. He was even able to lift rocks from this position. He did not know why, but he felt as though this was his destiny. He simply hoped that he had not been cast out of the jedi and they had wiped his memory clean. He wanted something more interesting.

[WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED]

Short story: Gand made a best friend, then betrayed him, and now that former friend has set a massive bounty on Gand's head for his capture alive. (will expand later)

Gand was looking for work, unable to find anything that would utilize his skills as a findsman on Nar Shaddaa, when he was approached by five other Gand. From his cardboard sleeping box nestled under an overhang outside of a store that allowed him to sleep there at night, he awoke to see five Gand standing over him. One was holding his Findsman weapon, "This is nice. Real nice," he said, in a tone suggestive of his intent to take it from him. Gand tried to sit up, but he was met with a foot on his chest, which made him lie back down. "This is a really nice weapon. You are a findsman, yes?" Gand nodded. "But you haven't earned your names yet, correct?" Gand shook his head. "I think I have a way to accomplish that." Gand looked inquisitively at the Gand speaking, the boot was removed from his chest, and he sat up. "And what might that be?" The Gand smiled, and told him to follow.

The Gands arrived at an underground bunker - one of which Gand, despite having lived on Nar Shaddaa for nearly 15 years, was unaware. As they descended, Gand noticed the pleasant smell of Ammonia, and when they finally arrived at the room, it was filled with Gand of all sorts. Yellow Gand, Blue Gand, Red Gand, you name it, it was there. "Welcome to the Nar Shaddaa Gand colony," said the lead Gand. "Now, come with me." Gand followed.

He was informed that they would be attempting to bring in a Jedi for the large bounty placed on them by the Empire. Though apprehensive about bounty hunting in general and hunting a Jedi - an organization of monks who have been the guardians of peace and justice for a thousand generations - for profit. Nevertheless, he agreed, wanting to be a part of something other than abusing alcohol and stims. Plus, this might be a good start to getting his name, the very thing he had left Gand to get.

The mission was simple enough - there were confirmed rumors of a Jedi on Nar Shaddaa, and they were required to capture or kill this Jedi. Gand didn't feel right about this, but he nonetheless agreed.

Locating and cornering the Jedi was simple enough - surprisingly simple, even to the other Gand. But they took no heed and captured the Jedi anyway. Our Gand was torn apart morally. On the one hand, this was his chance to make a name for himself and move up the ranks of the Gand colony. On the other, arresting an innocent Jedi so whoever put the bounty out could almost certainly torture him to acquire information about the rebellion seemed like a bad decision. Gand had no love for the Empire, and he didn't care much for the rebellion either, but taking an innocent man to be tortured just didn't seem right.

Finally making a decision when they reached the landing pad, he turned on his fellow Gand, defeating them all while suffering a heavy wound on his right shoulder. He removed the Jedi's gag, and the first words from the Jedi's mouth were "We have to get out of here." The Jedi and Gand quickly hopped aboard the Gand ship and took off to another landing pad, where they got their ship's ID signature changed and headed off to the Jedi Academy.

Motivation

Religion/Spirituality: The character is both drawn and follows the sway of a particular religious or spiritual calling. This could be the tenets of the Jedi or the Sith or some other belief.

Obligations

Philosophy – the New Jedi Order is a loose amalgamation of a variety of Force traditions and teachings, mashed together by Master Skywalker to allow his new Knights to follow the Force as they see fit – but there is always more to be learned or discovered about the will of the Force, the nature of the Force, and the way the Jedi fit into all these things. This PC is dedicated to the notion that the guiding philosophy of the New Jedi Order is incomplete and must be perfected to guard against the fallacies and failings of the old Jedi – to prevent the calamity that befell the Order, and the galaxy, just four decades ago.
+1

Description

Gand is like any other Gand, save for the fact that he has spent most of his life on Nar Shaddaa and strikingly little on Gand itself.
