Background
The Otessas are what is commonly called "Outer Rim Aristocrats". While many of the galaxy's richest move to the Core Worlds to turn their money into political power and fame, some like the Otessas kept their wealth on large estates in the Outer Rim.
Families like the Otessas were then put in an interesting predicament when the Clone Wars broke out. Like most groups, they played both sides of the war, trying to avoid being occupied by troops and maintaining their ground. Talia was growing up in the middle of the Clone Wars. Her family taughter her to be a skilled negotiator, meeting regularly with both Republic beaurocrats and Seperatist businesscreatures to keep the family's status. The Clone Wars also earned her a fascination with the more direct form of negotiation: open warfare. She learned clone battle tactics and trained her family's security forces to be ruthlessly efficient.
When the Clone Wars ended, the Empire attempted to crush much of the Outer Rim business in order to hoard the wealth in the core. They directly absorbed many of the Seperatist businesses and left the smaller neutral businesses to the cartels to carve up. Talia was able to keep part of her family's business estate by striking a deal with the Hutts. She has served as a "partner" of the Hutts ever since, leaving the family estate to her brother and traveling with Koga the Hutt on his space barge.
Motivation
- Ambition: Status
Obligations
- Favor 5: Technically her deal with the Hutts is done. They got half of her families estate in exchange for guarantee that the second half remains in Otessa hands. However, the Hutts like to "remind" Talia of their deal, keeping Talia in a constant state of indentured servitude.
- Family 5: Her goal always remains to increase her family's status, especially after so much of it was lost to the Hutts. If an opportunity to hurt her friends and help her familty arises, there is no guarantee she will do the honorable thing.
