Background

Nomo was born only a few years before the creation of the Empire, and both his parents were Imperial Science Officers. He was raised on the remote research station Stavin V where his parents were involved in advanced cybernetic-droid research. He was schooled with the standard off-world Imperial curriculum, and taught by a custom imperial protocol droid. By age 7 was studying university level science and mathematics, however his isolation from other kids and relative neglect by his parents led to a stunted personality and uneven maturity. He found that science and droids were the only things he got along well with. While it wasn’t fully true that both his parents neglected him, his mother was rather available as she was the science-lead on the stations project. His father did make attempts at connecting, and it was these small threads of relationship that keep Nomo going.

Through the next few years of education and indoctrination by the Imperial schooling system he had became a science prodigy. Having been pushed hard by his Mother he excelled and became a valuable yet unofficial member of their research team. Things changed at age 15 when there were some setbacks in their project and the team had failed to meet some of their goals. His father was set up to take the blame for the problems by the top Imperial officer, a human who was bigoted against other species being a part of the Empire. Against his wife’s advice his father protested against the reprimand and was sent off-station to “report to higher command”. Later the he and his mother were told that his transport had been attached by rebel alliance operatives and his father had died. This started a burning hatred in Nomo’s heart for both the rebel alliance AND the Empire.

It was at this point he began plotting a plan to escape, to run away from the Empire, his Mother and the pain of the loss of his father even though he had a weak relationship was with him. He blamed his Mother for working for the Empire, blamed the Empire and the Rebellion for the death of his father, and had begun to hate himself for helping with their plans. It took him a year or so to get off station, and he fled to the outer rim, far from the Empire and it’s plans.

It was quite a rough transition for Nomo, his skills in dealing with the outside world were low. Nomo tried to ply his abilities and knowledge where he could, but being naive he had many difficulties, often nearly at the cost of his life. His struggles dragged him through hunger, fear for his life, abuse, betrayal, and both poverty and some wealth.

He had several unique jobs during the next few years. He was a ships mechanic and handy-man for a distant mining colony, then later was became a top scientist for the mining corporation. His most prestigious job was as research fellow at the University of Alderaan. However his most enjoyable job was as a second/assistant/student to a very skilled Kel-Door artisan of jewelry, small electronics and small droid creation. Unknown to him this teacher was a force user that taught Nomo the ways of the Sentinel-Artisan even though Nomo was not a Force-Sensitive (at the time).

Unknown to himself, soon after he left his mother was able to get information that convinced her that her father was set up and killed by the Empire. After the destruction of Alderaan she now works as a secret rebel agent inside the Empire to give the Rebels key intel on Empire activities, specifically areas she has access to; advanced weapons, research, robotics and cybernetics. Unwittingly using her son to ferry information back and forth he risks both her life and her son’s to undermine the Empire in any way she can.

Mother: Natasha Thān-yū. Tall, severe personality. Ability scores: A1 C3 W3 I4 P2 B2. Nemesis. Talents: Adversary 1, Nobody’s Fool x2, Technical Aptitude, Defensive Slicing x2, Researcher x2. Skills: Computers 3, Cool 1, Deception 2, Discipline 2, Mechanics 4, Vigilance 3, Knowledge skills: Core-worlds 2, Education 4, Warfare 1, Xenology 3. Heavy clothing, blaster pistol, com-link, encrypted datapad.

Motivation

Overriding: Revenge against the Empire, with a side of sabotage against the rebellion

Personal: His passion is knowledge, gained initially through study, but now through practice, specifically creation of droids, creation and repair of cybernetics and a dabbling in medicine.

Fears: Unconscious fear that he is wrong; that his mother isn't to blame for his fathers death, fear that the Empire isn't the evil he believes it to be, fear that his father did not love him, fear that it was his fault his father died, and a deep and unrecognized fear for his mothers life.

Duties

Currently anti-rebellion, believing them to be partially responsible for the death of his father.

Obligation: Wanted by Empire:
Son of Empire scientist and officer mother and deceased father. Now wanted alive by the Empire for his significant scientific acumen. His mother, now a rebel operative, uses his intermittent capture and then arranged “escape” to get information to the rebels. Of course he doesn’t know any of this as he is used by his mother and the rebellion to secret micro-film data to and from this mother.

Description

Noms is a fairly typical appearing Cerean male of 22. His elongated skull is more bulbous and less cone-shaped at the top than most, and he has medium brown hair that is pulled back and tied. He is not particularly handsome, social, charismatic or filled with wisdom. What he does have is an intellect that is grand even on the scale of the Drall. He typically wears unassuming clothes, more functional than fancy, designed for for a study or lab than society. Attached to his chest is a small droid that appears to be a flattened-domed metallic oval plate. It attaches to a harness on his chest that holds a science scanner and datapad. On his arm he wears a metallic bracer, appearing to be more of a medical device than anything valuable, and under his robes he has a knife used more as a tool and for defense than as a weapon.
His voice is often unsure, likely more from disinterest than not understanding. When he is interested and thinks he knows what he is talking about he is often arrogant and even derogatory. He speaks with a high-imperial accent.
