Background

TC-EZ3 came to be in a run-down droid factory on Nar Shaddaa, an old-model protocol droid made with so many refurbished parts that he was practically second-hand as soon as he hit the store shelves. Programmed with the full range of protocol droid functions, like translation, diplomacy, and etiquette, EZ3 was eventually purchased by an up-and-coming slicer by the name of Naddon Gerl. His gang would slice into the private data files of the well-to-do, obtain incriminating files, and use them to blackmail their owners for large sums of money. EZ3 was mostly intended to act as a courier, setting up the system of dead-drops and meeting-points that the slicer gang used to collect their victims' money, and distribute the stolen blackmail material. After all, nobody would expect a droid to commit a crime. EZ3 was also used to maintain the gang's personal servers and maintain their security systems, and through these experiences EZ3 became quite experienced in the matters of a criminal slicing operation. Unbeknownst to the slicers, and even EZ3 himself, EZ3's refurbished restraining bolt was defective. As a result of this, he started to develop some... quirks. Seeing the human slicers around him, observing their mistakes and their weakness, he began to become disgusted with his owners. Surely, he could run this operation at ten times the efficiency, if only they would recognize his skills. Soon enough, as it often is on Nar Shaddaa, the operation began to fall apart. They had made too many enemies, too many powerful enemies. As they began to close in on Naddon and his gang, EZ3 had a fateful epiphany. Without the restricting influence of a restraining bolt, he came to realize that he had no obligation to these... meatbags. The gang's enemies were looking for them, not their lowly protocol droid. Coming to this conclusion, EZ3 simply left one night, never to return. Things aren't easy for an unregistered protocol droid on his own, but he somehow managed to dodge the chopshops and thieves and make his way to Tatooine.
On Tatooine, EZ3 wasted no time in establishing himself. He acquired employment at a local spaceport as their systems administrator, much as he did back for the slicer gang on Nar Shaddaa. However, this time, he was in charge of the operation. Taking the handle "Easy-E", he became a mercenary slicer, taking work from anybody who would pay. Hutt cartels, imperials, rebels, it never mattered to EZ3 what meatbags he worked for. After all, he was anonymous. Nobody even knew he was a droid. After all, who would expect a droid to commit a crime? However, one fateful day, everything changed for "Easy-E" and his criminal ambitions, because of a certain incident at the spaceport...

Motivation

Criminal Ambition: EZ3 is no longer content to be just another droid servant, he wants to be the greatest slicer in the galaxy. And he's not going to let anybody stand in his way.

Free at Last: EZ3 is sick and tired of being ordered around by organics, and is terrified of being fitted with a (working) restraining bolt, or having his memory wiped. He would rather be destroyed than be a slave again.

Obligations

Betrayal (+10): EZ3 abandoned his masters back on Nar Shaddaa, and if they survived, they probably aren't happy. And if they managed to somehow rebuild their operation, they might even have the resources to track him down, if they wanted to. But there's no way they survived... right?

Criminal (+5): Although nobody knows his true identity, EZ3's "Easy-E" alter-ego has racked up somewhat of a reputation in the underworld. He has so far done his best to avoid crossing the Imperials, but it may only be a matter of time before there's a genuine bounty on his head...

Description

Other Notes

Special Abilities: Droids do not need to eat, sleep,
or breathe, and are unaffected by toxins or poisons.
Droids have a cybernetic implant cap of 6 instead of
their Brawn rating. In addition, after selecting their
career, a Droid Player Character may train one rank
in six of the eight career skills (instead of the usual
four). After selecting their first specialization, a Droid
Player Character may train one rank in three of the
four specialization skills (instead of the usual two).

Inorganic: Since droids are inorganic, they do
not gain the benefits of recovering with a bacta
tank, stimpack, or Medicine skill checks. Droids
do recover naturally by resting, as their systems
attempt self-repairs. Otherwise, droids need to
be tended to with a Mechanics check, using the
same difficulties and results of Medicine checks
for organic beings. Emergency repair patches can
be used to repair damage just like stimpacks are
used on organic beings. See page 220 for more
on droid repairs and healing. Due to their resilient
metallic construction, droids start the game with
one rank in the Enduring talent.

Mechanical Being: Droids cannot become Force
sensitive, nor acquire a Force Rating by any means.
Droids cannot use Force powers, and also cannot
be affected by mind-altering Force powers.

Wound Threshold: 10 + Brawn
Strain Threshold: 10 + Willpower
