Background
Working poor growing up, somewhat close-knit community.
She worked as a nurse at the local hospital, and joined the imperial military after it closed down.
The imperial military was mostly capital B Boring, but she got involved in a small crime ring that added a lot of excitement and levity to her life and seeded later connections and obligations. Went from petty crime to some more intense theft to distract from some of the casual violence toward civvies. (sometimes she had to patch them up, sometimes they couldn't be)
Stress kept accumulating, and got worse after the base started getting sporadically mortared. A lot of her connections either got involuntarily discharged (some other than honorable, some dishonorable) or didn't renew their contracts, she lasted a bit longer before getting medically discharged.
Through her previous connections, she got involved in (RELEVANT CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION) which paid for further schooling.
Motivation
Comrades- real connection can only happen when you've been through the shit together. Her comrades make her feel alive, she's a ghost everywhere else. And her former comrades are slowly dwindling, many recovering from their service or getting worse.
This crew is an opportunity to be alive again, but right this time. We're working for ourselves, and we're not hurting people who didn't sign up for this kind of life.
Obligations
(10) Blackmail- she stole or helped steal a fair bit from the empire, mostly medical supplies but sometimes specialist equipment and weapons, in ways that could avoid notice but are vulnerable to blackmail. Nobody is actively blackmailing her, but she needs to keep her old crew (who are increasingly going on differing trajectories) taken care of.
(10) Debt- Sometimes her patron needs her services. Sometimes the people under her care have a price on their heads, or getting to her patient presents issues.
