Dik-Lik's mother (Lik-Lik) was sold into slavery at a very young age, whilst she did eventually break free and meet the love of her life (Dik-Dik) the scars of her past were ever present. She felt she had no choice but to return to her crutch, the Savorium Herb. Unfortunately, Dik-Lik picked up this addiction In Utero and was a sickly baby, always crying.

The stress of trying to take care of Dik-Lik whilst dealing with his wife's addiction proved too much for Dik-Dik. One morning he woke up, said he was going to the Tosche Station and never returned (At least this is what Dik-Lik was told, it wasn't until her mother was on her death bed that she learned her Father left her Mother for the village bike, Dik-Suc, and died shortly afterwards of Rooze Disease).

The loss of her husband made Lik-Lik's addiction even more severe. When Dik-Lik was an infant, she was often left to run feral whilst her mother sat in front of the house sporting the tell-tale grin of a Savorium addict, nursing a soiled doll which she had convinced herself was her daughter.

During Lik-Lik's more lucid moments, she showed her daughter how to identity and harvest Savorium for her (it grew in abundance in Ryloth). Thus began Dik-Lik's reintroduction to the drug, from then on she always had an escape when things got too much. She would take herself off to a nearby stream, take some Savorium and lie back watching the sky for hours. Sometimes a day or more would pass, without Dik-Lik or her Mother realising how long she had been gone for.
