Background
Jorus Kolar was once the senator for the planet Barkhesh, an outer rim planet that resisted the Empire's influence from the beginning. Given its lack of military or influence, Palpatine saw no reason trouble himself with the upstart population beyond installing more forces and quieting any murmurings of rebellion. Senator Kolar was unable to voice his peoples' displeasure in the Imperial Senate openly, but he was more than happy to organize transport and supplies through the system for smaller insurgent groups attempting to evade Imperial notice.
The Battle of Yavin and the dissolution of the Senate caused a surge of anti-Imperial sentiment in the people of Barkhesh, to the point that they made an open attack on the Imperial forces stationed on the planet. Unable to calm the people and unwilling to simply sit back, Jorus instead helped plan and organize the assault to protect as many of his people as he could. However, the people of Barkhesh were not prepared. What amounted to a civilian militia threw themselves against the Imperial garrison on the planet, doing minimal damage with heavy civilian losses.
Jorus realized that the Empire had the resources and manpower to overwhelm any individual upstart rebellion. He'd heard whispers that Senator Mon Mothma of Chandrila was putting together a more formal opposition to the Emperor, and so Jorus sought out any sign that he could of that opposition. Given his former allies in the Senate knowing all too well his planet's position on the Empire, it didn't take long to find a place in the Rebellion- They needed diplomats, voices of reason and those who could negotiate with systems on the fence to pull them completely toward the Rebel Alliance. Jorus was more than willing to fill that role, joining the Lantillian fleet in an effort to draw more systems to open rebellion.
Motivation
Faith - The Rebellion
Jorus held no illusions that the Empire was a positive force in the galaxy, and this was only solidified after the destruction of Alderaan. Bail Organa always came across to him in the Senate as a principled man held at bay by the strict authoritarianism and intentional powerlessness of the Imperial Senate, and his loss followed by the success of the Rebellion showed him that the Alliance was the only way forward, the only path back to democracy.
Duties
Political Support
Magnitude: 10
Every blaster, starfighter, and thermal detonator in the galaxy is useless without the political will to truly challenge and overthrow Palpatine and his New Order Jorus understands this all too well and is determined to see to it that as many factions, systems, and sectors as possible come to the side—and the aid—of the Alliance against the Empire.
