Background
1) How did you discover your force sensitivity?
Jecov Ravensk grew up in a small human settlement in the wastes of Iridonia, mostly insulated in his young age from the threat of the Empire. His mother it turned out had discovered her own Force sensitivity during the Imperial reign and through a series of fortunate events had gotten away with her family before being caught. It became clear early on that Jecov too had inherited this supernatural gift as his combat training had him deflecting blows or positioning himself to absorb strikes he shouldn't have seen coming.
2) Describe a moment where you fell prey to your moral weakness or experienced a tragedy/horror that still haunts you.
Unfortunately, the settlement was constantly harassed by a small group of tribal Zabrak calling themselves the Children of Adhoura. Their attacks on the human colonists were often ferocious and violent, taking what they could acquire and murdering anyone who got in their way. Jecov proved himself more than a match for their warriors, but their leader- Adhoura himself- Never showed his face.
Jecov determined that he'd have to chase these tribalists back to their home and challenge their leader one on one in an honour duel. His family, and his mother especially, begged the young warrior not to go. She told him that the Force wasn't a weapon to be wielded in retribution, and that such actions often have terrible consequences. The young Ravensk however was confident- He was a skilled fighter and while he wasn't 100% certain he could beat this 'Adhoura' given he hadn't seen the zabrak's abilities, he was more than willing to risk his own life for the chance to protect his people.
So he tracked the tribe to their cave home, he challenged their leader, and after a hard fought duel Jecov emerged victorious. It was only once he made his way back home did he realize that the tribe had left some warriors behind just in case the settlement's protector left. He returned to a slaughter, having lost everyone he loved to a treachery he hadn't predicted. He swore then to focus purely on protecting others, even at the cost of his own life if necessary.
3) How did you come to join the NJO?
After the loss of his colony, Jecov began working with various groups around the Iridonian sector as a bodyguard and protector. Sometimes these organizations would have the best intentions, sometimes not. In the latter case, Jecov would often find himself on the wrong side of his employers as he couldn't help but defend those who couldn't protect themselves from his superior's actions.
Eventually he made enough enemies on Iridonia and the surrounding systems that people started to talk, and this led to his discovery by some of the Praxeum's scouts. They swiftly realized his Force sensitivity and offered him an opportunity not only to grow in strength and practice his capabilities, but to use them to defend the defenseless and ensure the safety of those who need it. That was all the convincing Jecov needed as he hopped aboard their ship on the route to Yavin IV.
4) Name one NPC your character has a strong connection with. This could be a family member, a friend, a work contact, or a bitter rival.
While he defeated this Zabrak on Iridonia in an honour duel, the warrior Adhoura favoured power and control over honour. Adhoura and his tribe moved as soon as Jecov left, believing he'd come back seeking revenge once he discovered the clan's treachery. Several years had passed since then, and the tribe had gradually weakened and splintered due to a lack of faith in their leader. His loss to the human Ravensk had disillusioned some of his people to the point of mutinous action, and while Adhoura removed such obstructions from his path it had irrevocably weakened his hold.
The Zabrak decided then that he had to avenge himself upon Jecov, to take the human's head and present it to his people as a reaffirmation of his power. Thankfully, he too had a gift to help with that- The Children of Adhoura had been established long before the current leader's birth, and each 'Adhoura' was in fact picked from the tribe in secret to take the leader's place when they neared death. The choice was made based on the current Adhoura sensing Force potential in their successor, and the current leader of the Children was no exception.
5) Describe a pivotal moment in your life where you demonstrated your moral strength despite adversity.
During one of the jobs he took while working on Iridonia, Jecov was assigned to clear out squatters from an urban development project. Upon his and his team's arrival however, he realized that the 'squatters' were in fact the rightful owners of the tenement they were staying in- Or they were, until his boss had stolen to deeds to their homes and ordered their unlawful removal. These people were unarmed, many of them families with small children and no recourse to defend themselves legally. At Jecov's back were five armed enforcers, ready to remove the inhabitants with force if necessary.
Jecov turned to face his team without a second thought, engaging his pike and readying to defend himself and the Zabrak inhabiting the building. The fight was short and fierce, Jecov barely being able to stand by the end even as the enforcers lay injured and unconscious on the ground. The Zabrak he had protected nursed him back to health, then aided in the defense when more enforcers came the next time. After four attempts to exile these families with an armed protector at their side, Jecov's previous employer gave up on his plans and moved on to other business prospects.
Motivation
Creed: People Are Counting On Me
Jecov Ravensk knows that he can take a beating, and he also knows that if he's not there to take it then somebody else will suffer in his place. He will not abide stepping aside or allowing someone else to be harmed in his place so long as he takes breath, emulating the ideal of the Jedi Guardian to a fault.
Morality
Strength: Bravery
Jecov is nothing if not brave. His determination to do what is right and his refusal to allow harm to come to his allies manifests in an unending bravado that can come across as confidence rather than what it truly is- A dedication to the safety of others. If he's the first in the door, he's the one that takes the biggest strikes instead of his allies.
Weakness: Recklessness
While his bravery is something to be valued, it comes at the cost of self-preservation. Jecov may well take on far more than he can handle in an effort to preserve the safety of his allies, even dangers that the group would not have faced if not for his reckless actions.
Description
Brown feathered hair and a well-trimmed goatee show a certain pride in Jecov's appearance, while his lightly tanned skin and calloused hands show the amount of work he's put into his craft under Iridonia's sun. Often wearing clothes tight to his body and eschewing traditional robes or cloaks to keep his movement free and unhindered, Jecov comes across often as a trained warrior despite his kind nature and light-hearted tone.
