Joran was born in Polis Massa as the son of an Archeologist. His parents were not well off, but they did not have financial struggles. Early on Joran started to take a liking to tinkering with various things, especially tech. As he got older, he got better and better with what he could do with a slicer in his hand. The only thing that held Joran back is he was a little bit of a smart ass. He was a nice person, but his sarcastic remarks and witty comments rubbed people the wrong way. This definitely hurt him as he started to get into apprenticeships, as the master slicers he worked under would often get annoyed with him and no longer want to train him. Because of this, Joran has been bouncing around from apprenticeship to apprenticeship. Each one has helped him improve his skills, but he still has some things to learn. He's hoping he can find a more long term place where he can master his craft and gain a name for himself.

Sometimes Joran's obsession can distract him from everything else, causing him to neglect other important things like finding a job or spending time with family.
