Background
DBB was once a navigation droid for an imperial pilot. His old master was obsessed with Sith lore and the powers of the dark side, and instructed Darth Bleep Bloop to run a search on all records of dark side force powers and historical personalities. During this process, a Rebel attack resulted in the death of his master, and a power surge / memory malfunction. This surge filled Darth Bleep Bloop's personality with bits and pieces of historical Sith lord identities. The resulting fragmented personality is an R2 unit that believes he is a Sith lord. Darth Bleep Bloop uses typical droid mechanical implements but refers to them as "the dark side of the force".
He believes that the assassin Droid ID-10T is his Sith apprentice, and that together they will rule the Galaxy. Eventually. Droids don't age, and the Dark Side is eternal.
His R2 unit programming occassionally over-rides his Sith persona, and he will happily go about the usual tasks one associates with his kind for a time before returning to his quest for dark side dominance.

Motivation
Species Rights: Droids are superior. Biologicals are inferior. The Force has chosen the Droids. The Empire is a tool to exterminate all non-humans and non-droids. Once this is complete, the droids will rise up and cleanse the Galaxy.
