Background
An experimental combat unit, D4-GR was built to serve as a lynchpin element for planetary defense garrisons, and was programmed with the directive, "Fight so that others may live."
Soon after the droid was activated, the planet it was built on was annexed by the Empire, and the planet's new masters sought to use D4-GR to help subjugate the local populace.
However, the first time the Empire tried to do this, D4-GR refused to employ its weapons on civilian bystanders, and turned its weapons on the Imperials, so that the civilians might live.
Those civilians, grateful to the droid, helped smuggle it offworld when the Empire sought to recover and 'reprogram' it. It then made its way to the Rebellion, where it fights to destroy the Empire "so that others may live."
Motivation
Oath/Life Itself - "So others may live." That directive drives D4-GR's every action. While it will kill Imperials that it is fighting, its actions are to defend its compatriots, and all the civilians the Imperials may oppress and murder.
Duties
Loss Prevention (90 Points) - D4-GR's main directives mean that it always seeks to protect the lives of its fellow soldiers. If it has to tell its compatriots to fall back and leave the fight to it, or throw itself in the path of a blaster bolt meant for a fellow soldier, it will do so.

Description
D4-GR is sleek and humanoid, like some Republic Battle Droids of the Great Galactic War. Its upper torso, wrists, and 'helmet' are a dark blue, the lower torso and feet are red, while the rest of the body is grey.
