Name Rank Book & Page Description
Byspass Security EotE: 133 Remove Setback equal to the character's ranks in Bypass Security from Skulduggery or Computers skill checks made to disable a security device or open a locked door.
Hidden Storage EotE: 137 Any large equipment, vehicle, or droid that the character owns has one or more hidden compartments for smuggling appropriately sized gear. The number of compartments is up to the player, but cannot be enough to hold a total encumbrance value of items more than the character's ranks in Hidden Storage. The size of the compartments are proportional to the size of the vehicle or droid in question Most humanoid droids can only hold items equivalent in size to a one-handed weapon, whereas a silhouette 4 starship could conceal humanoids within its compartments. Any checks to detect these compartments have a Formidable (+ + + + +) difficulty
Shortcut EotE: 142 During a chase, the character adds Boost equal to his ranks in Shortcut to any checks made to catch or escape an opponent.
Jump Up EotE: 138 Once per round on the character's turn, the character may stand up from prone or a seated position as an Incidental.
Dedication EotE: 134 Each rank permanently increases a single characteristic of the player's choice by one point. This cannot bring a characteristic above six.
Grit EotE: 136 Each rank of Grit increases a character's strain threshold by one.
Know the Enemy DoR: 113 The character may choose to use the Knowledge (Warfare) skill when making checks to determine initiative.
Formation Tactics DoR: 112 The character may take the Formation Tactics action by making a Hard (+ + +) Leadership check. If successful, he may choose a number of allies within short range equal to Successes generated. The difficulty of attacks against these allies is upgraded once until the end of his next round. The effects of this action do not stack.
Command EotE: 133 Gain Boost when making Leadership checks (or other checks to inspire, lead, or rally an audience) per rank of Command. Inspired targets also add Boost per rank to any subsequent Discipline checks they make over the next twenty-four hours. This does not increase with additional ranks of Command.
Black Market Contacts EotE: 132 When looking to purchase illegal, exotic, or black market goods, the character may decrease an item's rarity by one level per rank in Black Market Contacts. For each level an item's rarity is decreased, its cost increases by 50% of its base cost.

Background

Hailing from the Outer Rim world of Eriadu, there weren't many career options for a young Kyla Mel. The Imperial military was the only true employer on the planet.

Kyla did the only thing to do to get off the planet, join the Imperial military. She had a good enough run while in the Empire. Kyla worked in Customs Enforcement and kept a tally on all goods confiscated when intercepting smugglers. Some of said goods never made it on the books, though some extra credits found their way into her pockets.

Often the smugglers intercepted carried small amounts of various goods. The variety of goods was often great and so there was never a real consistency to what was confiscated. This allowed for smaller, niche goods to be easily missed and spirited away. Small goods like archeological relics, exotic trinkets, and cleaned credit chips were easy scores.

Unfortunately, it was not to last and the base commanders were closing in on her schemes. The amount of corrupt that lead back to her would have sent her in front of a firing squad. So she fled with the help of some co-conspirators looking to get out of the Empire too.

Motivation

Kyla never really felt at home anywhere she's been, though she'd like to find somewhere in the future. Until then, she's going to aimlessly wander the galaxy, trying to make as many credits as possible for that secluded home that she'll find some day.

Obligations

Criminal: 20

Before her desertion, the Empire had more than enough reason to want Kyla dead. Now, they're willing to pay bounty hunters to do it. She's wanted dead or alive. Either way, the Empire plans to make an example of Kyla and what happens to deserters and thieves. Unfortunately, the large scar across her face makes her easy to identify. Fortunately, she got it during the theft of the Sleight of Hand and the Empire doesn't know about it yet.
