Background
Zethis Vane was born of House Vane; a minor but influential noble house on Falleen known for their master architects. Even as a hatchling, his pheromonal control was unusually potent, but it manifested differently—he didn’t just influence emotions; he could sense the "intent" of the world around him.
In Falleen culture, size often equates to dominance. By being leaner, Zethis was underestimated by his peers in House Vane. They saw his lithe frame as a sign of weakness. He proved them wrong not with a fist, but with a practice saber, disarming the house’s weapon-master three times before he was even six years old.
His family saw these traits as a tool for political supremacy. However, during a diplomatic gala, a Jedi Seer recognized the boy’s sensitivity not as a racial trait, but as a profound connection to the Force. To his family, losing a son to the Jedi Order was a strategic loss, but they couldn't refuse the Republic’s protectors during such a volatile era.
Zethis was a standout at the Temple, but he never quite shook his noble bearing. He found the standard lightsaber forms too "clunky" for his refined sensibilities. He became a practitioner of Makashi, the dueling style.
He specifically sought out an ancient curved-hilt design to better suit the fluid, elegant strikes of Makashi. At the Temple, he became a "Jedi Duelist" in the truest sense. He views the Force as a fine needle rather than a heavy hammer. While other Jedi of this era are outfitting themselves in heavy armor and wielding heavy sabres to fight Sith, Zethis wears his simple, layered robes and trusts entirely in his speed and his connection to the Living Force.
Despite his devotion to the Light, Zethis remains a man of two worlds. He is often sent to the Mid Rim and the Expansion Region as a "Jedi Watchman," where his noble upbringing allows him to navigate the treacherous courts of planetary warlords that other Jedi find repulsive.
However, his greatest challenge is internal. To master Makashi is to master control, yet his Falleen nature draws on influence. He walks a razor’s edge: using his pheromones to de-escalate a conflict is efficient, but he fears that every time he subtly bends a mind to his will, he drifts closer to the very Sith he is sworn to hunt.
Now, as the Sith New Empire begins to cast its shadow over the ancient sectors of the galaxy, Zethis Vane moves through the ruins of the past. He is not just a protector of the Republic, but a seeker of lost wisdom, hoping that the wisdom of the ancestors can provide a needle sharp enough to stitch the bleeding galaxy back together.
"Power is a blunt instrument," Zethis often remarks to his peers. "Victory is found in the space between silence and diplomacy."
Motivation
Science and Reason: Zethis believes in reason, knowledge and scientific understanding. Everything, even the Force, has a logical explanation that works according to certain rules, even if he doesn't fully understand what those rules are.
Morality
Current: 50
Discipline: Mystics especially need discipline to keep from being overwhelmed by the force. Some Mystics want to be overwhelmed and lose themselves. The force provides so much peace and understanding, but the Mystic must focus so the physical world can receive this insight.
Coldness: Mystics have a special vulnerability to removing themselves from mortal emotions and concerns. A single life has no significance to the force, and so these Mystics turn cold to the world.
