Background
Backstory: How paths merge.
Adopted by a Corellian couple that could not conceive a daughter of their own, she was something that very few, if any, had seen. Half Arkanian offshoot, half Chiss, she'd been abandoned at a space station before being cared for briefly before being adopted. Her early life consisted of private teacher droids, being a general pain, playing, and much to her parents frustration, taking apart everything she could get her hands on. Eventually she began to put things back together, and her parents, both skilled mechanics in their own right, quickly began to train their daughter. She hardly spent any time at home, fascinated by working on machines. As she got older and more experienced, she was allowed to work on speeders. By the time she was 12, she was practically running one of her fathers small speeder repair shops, learning how to fix and fly a wide variety of designs.
The first time she left the planet was when she was 14, flying in her fathers modified YT-2000. He'd found it in a scrapyard more or less stripped and with some help, he'd rebuilt it at the very station he was taking her to. Her Parents bought the large repair station from a failing business, and with some investment, had turned it around into a very lucrative and connected place, and for years, Jane was hardly on planet. Speeders were one thing, but starships fascinated her. Being small, she could fit where the bigger adults couldn't, and she learned a lot. The pilots and the crews of the ships that came in generally liked the little blue mechanic. Occasionally, the more regular customers showed her how to fly, sometimes with some rather close calls. She learned a lot of the stories and legends of distant places and people from the array of species and beings that visited.
She met a fascinating array of people from Imperials who always seemed to make things harder to smugglers who sometimes brought gifts to her parents. She eventually learned what that meant, though entirely by accident.
Always good at recognizing patterns and analyzing data due to her life around machines, she was beginning to notice things that were happening with more and more frequency. Adding up the things she knew from being there to the things she was fixing that something was going on. She went to her father to show what she found, and while he was angry, he couldn't fault her. She'd never been particularly fond of the Empire, so her parents told her everything. They'd been helping out smugglers, and some of the parts she had 'fixed' had contained hidden messages and secrets on the Empire and their movements. They would find and send the data through other fixes on other ships.
She wanted a ship of her own, having fallen in love with flying, so as she got older she was taken on 'shopping trips' with her father on his ship out to run cargo or buy needed parts with an R2 unit she'd worked on and managed to fix up. Sometimes these deals were sketchy, sometimes they were dangerous, but they always made it home and most of the time there wasn't even hull damage. They tried to keep the fights they got into secret, but every so often her mother would scold them for getting into danger.
Just before her 22nd birthday as she was tinkering with the hyperdrive of a long time gun runner in the dock, the captain of the ship, a Pantoran female named Kira Irissa, rushed to her. The Empire was raiding the station and they needed to leave. Nearly done with the part replacement, she quickly finished and before the ship could take off, she ran off it.
Looking out the dock's magnetic shield, she saw them. One Star Destroyer with two CorSec Marauder Corvettes with shuttles and troop transports incoming. Seeing that, she went to find her parents. Finding them in the command center, they were rapidly trying to wipe the station's memory core. Assuring her where they would meet her in her fathers ship, she ran back to Captain Irissa, who was a close friend of the family, agreed to take Jane to safety. Narrowly escaping the boarding parties, they made it off the station. Her parents, while successfully managing to erase evidence, were arrested, and never made it off of the station freely.
In the two years that followed, she worked and earned her living working as crew for Captain Irissa, using some of her contacts and friends in the smuggling trade to find out information. From all she could find out, the Empire annexed their assets and took over the station, handing off control of operations to one member of CorSec. Randan Kal, one of the higher ups in the security force. What could his involvement be with her sudden life course shift?
