Background
Cess was born in the bustling capitol city on the planet Suggero (the homeworld of the Theelin). They prefer not to talk about their early years or their birth family. If asked, Cess would simply reply, “They’re not worth the time or the trouble.” Cess ran away from home at 16 and never looked back. They hitched a ride off of Suggero with some of the money they took from their family.
Cess struggled to make ends meet and worked with a few different acting groups before working their way up to auditioning and being accepted into the minorly known traveling acting troupe called Tethys’ Galactic Players. Cess was known as a skilled character actor during their time with the group, over about three years’ time.
During this time, their side hustle of running drugs and other contraband was starting to really pay out. Cess would smuggle contraband with their bags as they went from system to system. They always found ways to spend every free credit they earned and always found themselves wanting more. The underworld provided lucrative financial options to anyone craving more credits.
Cess continued with bigger and bigger side jobs. Eventually, they were caught with 2 cargo pods of Lesai while entering an imperial world, Selonia, with the rest of their troupe. They were all held for questioning but the rest of the troupe was let free when it was obvious that the drugs were only with Cess’s belongings. Their attempt to smooth things over with a bribe to the imperial officer just made things worse since they happened to get caught by a true believer of the Empire, lieutenant Dray Skyff. Cess was sent to a prison camp on Coruscant and spent the next 2 years there.
When the New Republic took over, Cess saw their chance to get out and convinced the tribunal of three that was going through the prisoners’ files, Gavin Rae, Scrye Varik, and Seb Sturm. that the smuggling charges was fake and that they were a political prisoner. Seb Sturm was skeptical of Cess’s story but was outvoted by the other two. Cess's release also angered their old cellmate Numm Valorous, who was jealous of the situation.
After getting out Cess tried to return to the old acting troupe but the director Sadako Tethys would not take back this convicted criminal because of fears that they would cause the troupe more problems. Having no place to go and not wanting to stay in the core worlds, Cess headed to the planets on the outer rim. The last six months, Cess has been running grifts on any mark without the self preservation skills to catch on to their ways. After being cooped up in a cell for two years, they are happy to not be in one place too long and tend to move along when things get too hot after they finish a job.
