IG98 was built using the parts of the original IG88D droid, IG86 sentinel droids and the The JN-66 analysis droid ( a model of analysis droid used by the Jedi Temple's Analysis Rooms). He was created by the Onderon rebels, also referred to as the Onderon resistance. His maker Soonian Noon shared Saw Gerreras “shoot first ask questions later” approach. IG 98 helped to swing the tide of battle in favor of the Onderon Resistance on more than one occasion. IG98 was thought to have been lost forever during the mission on Dooma 4 . The Partisans led by Saw Gerrera undertook a mission on an Imperial Metal Factory after learning that it provided components for a secret Imperial part. During their escape IG98 sustained heavy damage while fending off wave after wave of storm troopers giving Gerrera and the others time to escape with the plans. Years later IG 98 was later recovered by Jado, T-Dogg and Hacrol on a separate mission to Domma 4. After rigorous repairs and reprogramming the team was able to restore IG98 to 90 % of his previous operating status. Although he is still a little rough around the edges the Rebels have decided to send him on missions that require blaster negotiations.
