Background
“The Force isn’t dead out here. It’s just buried. And things buried don’t always stay still.”
Mira Dasso was born in the drowned vaults of a forgotten Jedi enclave on Glee Anselm, a place half-swallowed by tectonic collapse and overgrown coral reefs. Her early years were spent exploring silent archives, collapsed meditation halls, and flooded council chambers, where salt-stained murals hinted at truths the galaxy had abandoned. No Jedi had walked those halls in decades, but the echoes of their presence remained: ruined droids that still whispered cryptic mantras, datapads that wouldn’t stay deleted, and strange lights in the water that no one could explain.
Her parents were salvagers who scavenged Jedi tech and scraps of history for Outer Rim traders. But while they sought credits, Mira sought meaning. She learned early to listen, not just to people, but to places. She came to believe that knowledge clings to places, embedded in dust, memory, and ruin. Some ruins held answers. Others held warnings. Over time, she became fluent in both.
As she grew, her curiosity outpaced the limits of any one world. She studied ancient scripts, Force philosophies, and strange species long since displaced or enslaved. She saw how the Empire’s policies erased not only cultures, but histories. Species classified as “lesser” vanished from records, rituals were banned, languages criminalized. As she traveled, she made it her work to listen and remember.
She left Glee Anselm when the Empire began strip-mining ancient sites and silencing anyone who questioned it. Out beyond the Core, on the frayed edges of the starmaps, Mira became known as a Fringer, quiet, precise, and unafraid to walk into places most called cursed. Her peers joke that she reads ghosts better than she reads people. They're not wrong.
She doesn’t see herself as a Rebel, not yet. But in a galaxy ruled by fear, uncovering lost knowledge is a rebellious act. Her blaster is clean, her mind sharper. She's seen Jedi relics traded like toys, Force-worshipping warlords twisting minds, and empty voids that shouldn't exist. She doesn’t believe in prophecy, but she knows some dreams don’t belong to her alone.
Now, Mira is chasing rumors of a Jedi archive gone dark near the edge of Wild Space. She’s not looking for the Force. She’s looking for the absence of it, and the people, places, and truths the galaxy forgot.
