Background
Tenback Aster grew up in the middle class of Cornet city to Deltech De'grot and Maliva of the Aster family. Tenback was born with his father Deltech being absent for most of his childhood and his mother being sent away with the newly formed Imperial Navy . Unbeknown to Tenback, his mother Maliva resented the nature of his birth and upbringing as he was seen as a black mark on her family name and was constantly brought up when in social meetings with other high ranking Coraillians as an insult. Maliva's treatment of Tenback caused some contention with her brother, Devlin Aster, who had lost his wife and children during the Clone Wars. Devlin, an Admiral and clone wars veteran, who had seen Tenback as a sort of son, would regale him with tales of the clone wars and would take him on flights in his older starfighters.
Sometime after turning eleven his father Deltech returned to Aster family home under the pretence of seeing his son. From this event Deltech used Tenback as a means to marry his mother Maliva Aster, whom had risen to the rank of commodore*, to try and further his own career. As a means to restore her reputation in high society, she accepted and staged a wedding in which Tenback was not invited too as to maintain her customs. Practically overnight Deltech was promoted from a Second lieutenant on board a Gozanti supply Cruiser to a Captain on board of the Arquitens Light Cruiser: Onderon, effectively abandoning Tenback for a second time. At this point Tenback had started to learn how to fly and would eventually start using an old V-Wing fighter from his uncle's collection.
On turning sixteen Tenback, listening to his family's advice, enlisted with Imperial academy on Corellia. However he chose to follow the advice of his uncle and join courses that would allow him to pursue a career as a fighter pilot. This choice would anger his mother who wished him to become an officer in the navy to cement the family position in the empire's eyes. Having good grades in the flying, ship-to-ship combat and combat awareness but having moderate to low marks in ground combat, tactics and leadership, made him an ideal candidate for the Skystrike academy*. Upon completion of the training at Skystrike, Tenback showed a good understanding of dogfighting and piloting, but weak in areas of ground combat and astrogation, which made him an ideal candidate for the new TIE Interceptors that would be in the final phase of development.
However at the graduation, he was told he would be promoted to second lieutenant and assigned a shuttle pilots job, which he was poorly suited for. Upon requesting a transfer he found out that his mother had used her influence to get him the highest ranking and safest position upon graduation, locking him out of any combat units until he either quit or was promoted to captain. The assignment bored Tenback to death and would drive him to question his role in the Imperial Navy as he moved ranking VIPs (who would make a mountain out of any molehill) from one end of the galaxy to the other without change for six months. The new job was not without perks though, as the brass had found him ill adjusted to the role, they had to bring in a navigation officer as his co-pilot who he would become friends with.
At some point Devlin had been promoted and given charge of a multitude of squadrons testing out the latest fighters of the navy, however he needed pilots that were skilled, loyal and adaptable. This proved to be a surprisingly hard criteria to fill as most pilots would either die or deflect to the growing resistance movements. En-route to Skystrike he came across his nephew piloting his shuttle with his new friend and co-pilot, Bexler Antilles. Devlin, surprised to find his nephew piloting a shuttle, offered the pair roles in his personal fighter squadron, Tenback had to reject this offer as he was effectively banned from combat units. However there was a strange workaround in that testing squadrons are not combat units due to political reasons. Tenback accepted this and was ordered to change course for deep space. There they found a modified Interdictor-class named the Centaur.
After the first Death Star was destroyed, Tenback lost track of what happen to his family as the fighting escalated. He set about testing rebel ships to try and find weaknesses and tactics against them. After the battle of Endor, the test squadron he was a part of was disbanded. Although most of his squadron was send to the front lines, Tenback was send to byss for reasons that were not explained to him. Just before the final battle at Byss, it was revealed to him that his mother had requested the transfer. Now out of a feeling of guilt, he's decided to try and track down his family members, as well as anyone else lost along the way.
