Background

Archie's parents were killed while he was too young to understand why, but they were another pair of casualties in the never-ending wars. He was discovered hidden but alive amongst the wreckage at the age of 2. He grew up in a shoddy excuse of a holding facility for kids found under such circumstances on the planet Cantonica. It was more accurately a dumping grounds for children with nowhere left to go. But it was here that he met someone under familiar circumstances, someone he would come to know as a brother and the closest to family he'll ever need. They were inseparable, and always finding trouble. But that was the only thing around to find on the poorer side of Cantonica, run by arms dealers and crooks. There was little hope for a life here that could be otherwise. This is why it was so easy for these two children to be recruited as free labor for a pirate crew. If they went missing, nobody would care. Some would say it solved a problem. Archie was 12 when they were brought aboard the ship known as the Silver Dagger to work for a crafty schemer of a Trandoshan captain named Lucius Krunch and his small crew. And they had a long run of doing this. To say they were successful would be a lie, because they never did anything to acquire any major wealth. But they survived stealing where they could and hijacking merchant ships. Lucius had an eye for cheap contracts and a nose for prey. But shrewd as he was, he lacked charm. That's where Things 1 & 2 come in, the smooth talking street rats he picked up for this purpose. They opened doors he couldn't open before, and they became quite the team over a few years. They were even able to afford small luxuries every now and then for themselves, and sometimes rarer still for each other. They had almost started to become a family themselves.

Which is why it was unfortunate when Lucius picked the wrong prey to board. Or some would say the best target he ever could have found. What they thought was going to be an easy swipe from a small transport ship ended up being the discovery of a hidden transport ship for Imperial secrets guarded by imperial troops. It was a much larger, and much more dangerous haul than any of them had ever expected or dreamed of. Lucius knew the risks, but decided that they would take everything anyway. The gear from the troops, the crates they couldn't open, anything that they could load onto their ship was raided before they destroyed the transport ship. Their next step was to find someone who could appraise their haul.

They didn't make it too far before everything went to shit. They returned to Cantonica to pawn off their goods, but they were followed. Of course there would be a tracking device inside of the crates, they were just too blinded by greed to think about it. They arrived in force and with ruthless action to their meet up site with their underground connection. He only survived because Lucius wanted neither of the two dingleberries there to potentially say something stupid during the negotiations and inquiries, so they had to watch from the outside as they were raided by Imperial forces. When troops started to fan out to seek any other accomplices or witnesses, Archie's brother escaped but he did not. At least not immediately. He was captured by two of the guards just to give them the slip later, as knowing the streets of this area so well gave him the advantage. However, he couldn't find his brother again. Afraid and now for the first time in his life truly alone, he had nowhere to go. But he knew he had to get away from here. He took what he could from the shoddy shared living space he had with his brother, the one small comfort being that the place already looked touched over once while his now things were left alone. After taking what he needed, he fled the city and the planet, stowing away on a transport ship to any other location but here. Now he needed to look for work and a new life elsewhere.
