Background

Cayce Sendai and his sister, Yenna, grew up in one of the domed cities of Mandalore. Their father was a low-level bureaucrat who collaborated with the locally-installed Imperial leadership. His mother ran a small-time general store in one of the seedier parts of the city. Due to Imperial taxation and the bribes necessary to make it by without attracting attention, their family remained fairly poor.

During their teenage years, Cayce and Yenna became involved in small time crime to help their parents make ends meet. Cayce picked up slicing from Fel Dorey, a local bottomfeeder: bookie, loan shark, con man, and "blackmail administrator" all rolled into one. Cayce would make money by slicing either into clients' encrypted databases and stealing data with which to blackmail them, or by physically infiltrating their homes or businesses via slicing to steal from them. Yenna served food to the local garrison of Imperial troops. The two were inseparable. They got into and out of more scrapes than he could have remembered and Yenna trusted him to keep her safe.

When Cayce was 19 and Yenna was 17, An Imperial officer, Lieutenant Commander Lennic Vorton, took a liking to Yenna. Vorton was a Requisitions officer focused on the sustainment of Imperial forces (maintenance and supply). One of his duties was to "recruit" talent for the brothels which support Imperial Troops across the galaxy. He reached out on his own to a local human trafficker and arranged for her to be abducted and shipped off-world. However, he planned to then bribe officials at the first layover spaceport to stow her on an imperial ship and take her for himself.

One night, Cayce and Yenna met up after she finished working in the Imperial dining facility. Criminals emerged from the darkness and pulled her, screaming, back into it. Cayce tried chasing them down, but that was the last time he saw her. It took him the next several months of desperate searching and slicing to find out that she had been taken off-world and another few to determine that she was taken to be a pleasure worker.

Cayce resolved to find her no matter the cost - no matter how far he would have to travel or how long it would take. In order to do it, he would have to get off-world. And he would need the skills to do something about it. As much as it pained him to do it, he knew the most effective way to achieve this was to join the Empire and receive their elite training. He enlisted as a slicer technician in the Imperial ground forces. After his initial entry training, he volunteered for the "Phantom Regiment" (formally speaking, the 3rd Multi-Purpose Assault Trooper (MPAT) Regiment), a commando unit which focused on direct action raids, special reconnaissance, and other covert operations.

Cayce underwent their selection process and barely eked out a passing rating through sheer determination. During the qualification course, he honed his slicing skills even further and received extensive training in mechanics, stealth, and small arms marksmanship. Cayce graduated from the qualification course with adequate marks, albeit toward the bottom of his class. He joined the Phantom Regiment and filled a vacant position in a 12-man Trooper detachment as the junior slicer.

Cayce accompanied the detachment on several covert missions, but grew restless. He spent all of his free time slicing imperial databases to find out where Yenna was taken. After nearly a year of searching, he discovered that she was taken to a brothel posting on an Imperial capital ship: the Harbinger. He saw that the Harbinger was set to conduct patrol operations around Tattooine within the next few months.

Thoughts of Yenna pushed him to his breaking point. When his detachment was assigned to execute a snatch and grab mission on Tattooine, Cayce took the opportunity to melt into the underworld and desert his unit. Unfortunately, the Harbinger was diverted and never showed up. He now keeps a low profile, latching onto any opportunity to make a buck, gather allies and equipment, and find the right opportunity to get to his sister.

Motivation

Relationship: Cayce's sister, Yenna, was abducted by a human trafficking ring and sold to the Empire to work in a brothel serving Imperial troops and/or officials. Cayce has dedicated his life to his quest to find her and rescue her from her indentured servitude.

Cause: Cayce's biggest drive, besides finding his sister, is to stop the Empire from enslaving and conscripting innocent creatures across the galaxy, like his sister.

Obligations

Criminal (5): As a deserter, Cayce is wanted by the Empire for desertion.
