If it wasn't in his public record, Kai would have never even known which world he came from. Born on the Chiss homeworld of Csilla to a wealthy family, Kai's life should have been one of luxury and status as was his family legacy. However, he was never given the chance to experience this life. He was "enlisted" as a small child to curb his families pretentious attitude towards the new Empire. Kai came of age with a number of other children within the Empire; his squad was his family and his Squad Leader was the only parental figure he could remember.

Together with his family, Kai trained to be an Imperial Commando. He and his brothers and sisters were to be the surgeons knife that would remove the parts of the galaxy that caused the Empire harm. That vision never bothered Kai as long as he had his family, his squad, with him. They trained to fight in the most inhospitable locations, against the most dangerous foes the galaxy had to offer. Together, they fought and killed, they lived and died. Everything changed with Alderaan.

His squad was to spend a month in the mountains practicing high altitude combat on the core world planet of Alderaan. The planet held a quiet resentment for the Empire so the squad was to arrive at different times to avoid any potential interference in the training. Kai was the last to arrive and when he did, his shuttle was redirected to a new Imperial station in the area. Alderaan was no where to be found.

The days that followed were a blur of pain and loneliness from the moment Kai was informed that his entire Squad, his family, had been lost as collateral damage following an order from Grand Moff Tarkin to remove Alderaan from the galaxy to further his chase of the Alliance. At the first opportunity that presented itself, Kai deserted the Empire. He left the organization that had sacrificed his family to send a message. He wondered the Outer Rim planets taking jobs that fit his skills, looking for a purpose while trying to keep his identity a secret.

His most recent opportunity has brought him aboard a freighter with an interesting mix of individuals.

Motivation: Overthrow the Empire
- however, he does not realize that is his overall goal yet, he wants to make those responsible for his pain pay for their actions

Obligation: Criminal
- Kai is a deserter, if the Empire finds him then they will punish him in ways he can only imagine

Duty: Support
- having felt the impact of the Empire in a personal way, Kai seeks to help those who are also under the weight of the Empire. He has not sought out the Alliance, being unable to completely shake the Imperial conditioning, but he is willing to help those who need it

Unremarkable for a Chiss: Red eyes, charcoal black hair, muscular build befitting someone who was trained to be a Commando, young (20 years old), lacks any real combat experience but was subject to many live fire training sessions and has killed before (although he has not killed since his desertion).
