Vex, then known as Jax Dreath, conducted a brilliant tactical assault, coordinating air and ground units to effectively corner the Ebruchi pirates into the Kryx Asteroid Belt, where he had known they had retreated to before, which had been rigged with seismic charges, deemed obsolete for modern combat and slated to be destroyed. Vex rigged these charges across the largest asteroids in the belt. The mission was a success. However, unknown to the commanders, the belt was also home to thousands of Toydarian refugees. Hundreds of them were slaughtered, and the unintended consequences made him ineffective in command, but not before he received public credit for the massacre and was awarded the Order of the Imperial Seal.

In the wake of his crimes and support of the xenophobic Empire, Vex is now dedicated to working for the rights of all races. Rediscovering his former love, Kettra, he dedicates his time and efforts to gaining legitimacy as Jacobi Vex and being worthy of her hand.

15: Dark secret: Vex is the former Wing Commander (Jax Dreath) of Spectre Squadron of the Imperial Star Destroyer Admonitor, under Grand Admiral Thrawn and Captain Niriz's command during the Ebruchi attack. Since his induction into the Order of the Imperial Seal, he has been secretly contacted and assigned espionage missions. He is pretty sure his former handler is dead but lives in fear of both exposure and obligations by other members of the Order.

Tall for a Pantorian, the imposing former commander keeps himself in top shape and prides himself on having few (if any) shortcomings. His presence and formidable stature tend to make him a strong persuasive force among people who are used to a hierarchy.
