Motivation
Overthrow the Empire:
The Empire made him choose between his own life and the life of his former Pantoran leaders. He choose selfishly and has never forgiven the Empire for putting him in that position. He will now do anything to seek some form of redemption by taking down the Empire.

Acting as an Imperial spy gathering information and influencing/infiltrating the powerful circles of the underworld.

Betrayal:
During the Empire's takeover of Roke's homeworld of Pantora, he attempted to escape into hiding with other members of the Pantoran Assembly. However things went awry and he was captured by the Imperial forces. When faced with torture and death, Roke betrayed the position of the other Pantoran leaders resulting the capture and execution of the Pantoran royal family. In the bargain he received Imperial immunity and was freed. Roke was marked as a traitor to his species and effectively exiled from Pantora. Factions of the Pantoran rebellion now seek him out for answers/revenge.
