Background
Goobo had it all until it all crumbled to pieces. Gooboo was part of a well respected galactic family. The Kah'rasa. The empire was built over the centuries as one of the premier info networking families. Some sects might get a bad reputation, but overall if you were looking for quality, look no farther.
When it came to the family business, Goobo was a bit of an odd duck. During his upbringing, he was being trained in anything and everything as to find out what his affinity was. Normally, covert was an affinity that was highly prized. Goobo got bored during a test mission and fell asleep while sleep munching on some protein. Next was Blaster pistol training. His shot was so off the mark that it hit another instructor right on his ass. Pickpocket. Lost the tools. Interrogation. Goobo was slamming his subject over the head within minutes.
The list of possible occupations in the family were dwindling. Goobo, the family found out, was exceptional with computers. It wasn't that he wasn't smart enough to do these other affinities. On the contrary, Goobo has an exceptional mind but tends to need constant stimulation. A slicer in the family was not a bad gig either. It wasn't a premium set of skills that the family valued but did have its uses when it came to information gathering. The family usually outsources such tasks so the family can focus on the real objective. Credits.
There is nothing that Bothan's value more than credits or the art of their profession. Goboo was living the good life. Had a good paying job, decent career trajectory, and a wife and three kids. He was set to branch off, maybe start a new business wherever the family needed him to go. He knew he could, until a day where Goboo's biggest vice crept up to take a chunk out of his butt.
Gambling. For an intelligent man, Goobo REALLY couldn't help himself. He knew the odds, he calculated them over and over in his head. He knew that the smart money was not to play. Podracing, Sabacc, Lugjack, Droid-Fighting, Swoop Racing. You name it, Goobo was hooked. He played a mean game of Sabacc in his opinion but he tended to lose more often than win. The credits kept stacking in losses while Goobo behavior got more erratic. He was sleep deprived, sanity was questioned before the branch head and one of his many daughters called for an intervention. His wife wasn't pleased with the arrangement and threatened to call it off if he didn't get his crap together.
A month later Goobo was pulled into branch HQ one day in Bothawui. He was being transferred out to Ord Mantell. Ord Mantell was a credit mine for the Kah'rasa family. He was on probation at the time and he was going to step out the deep end. He would pay back all his gambling debts, he would be given a small stipend to set up shop, and make the Kah'rasa family proud. Wife was proud and hoping the intervention held. Ord Mantell started out good for Goobo. Set up a Slicing business, spread his name a bit, and had a steady if unremarkable over the first month. Then he gambled it all the way and some. Piles of credit debt and he couldn't tell his wife, his kids, or the branch head.
Thinking quickly, he decided that he needed an employer. Being by himself was not good for him he realized. He heard tell of a small crew that was looking for mechanic. Goboo not the greatest mechanic but he likes to tinker with tech. He could do it and he REALLY needed the credits. He applied to a man called Caine Solari and waited to get an answer back. Caine found out through sources most of Goboo's current status. He interrogated him. Job interviews are like that but this rubbed him raw. Caine found out he wasn't much of a mechanic but he was really good with computers but could tinker.
The conditions were as follows. He would get paid by the crew job. Caine would set aside and cut into his share to make sure credits were always going towards his debt. Any credits extra were his to use. If Goobo family were to inquire, Caine crew was retaining Goboo services. Goobo could also do any work on the side as long as it didn't interfere with the crew. A bargain was struck. Goobo arrived at 35 and has been with Caine for just over a year. His wife and 3 kids still live Bothawui but marital relations have steadily improved.
