Background

Born into the aristocratic Ryo Syndicate Clan, Amira had potential to be great in this world with every available opportunity. But when she was only two years old, she was stolen by a pair of vengeful smugglers who were robbing the syndicate already and thought having her for ransom would be smart. But plans went awry in their plans to get away. The ship was damaged, and they couldn't travel any farther than the planet inhabiting a Teemo the Hutt. They were in a bad way, a desperate situation, and knew that if they kept the girl and stayed still too long now, they'd be dead. But instead of trading their small fortune they stole from the Ryo clan, they tried to trade Amira for a ship (without giving name to who she is). The offer was denied. So they stole the ship later, and they left little Amira behind. Teemo, enraged, kept her for what little consolation she was at the moment.

She would grow up under his "care" as a slave to pay off the debts of her captors, but since she was too young to be a dancer she grew up fixing the Hutt's ships and machinery. She was entrusted to his servants to teach her what she needed to know. As she grew up, she developed a fascination for starships and their destinations. She would bother any visitors, travelers or customers with questions where she could. He had plans for her to become a dancer when she grew older, but she showed a true talent for machinery that he couldn't let go to waste. Her first project was the scrap of a ship that her smuggling captors arrived on. She never learned much more about them, but if they never bothered to come back for her then they weren't important enough to dwell on. The other servants became her family. One of Teemo's dancers Nadia, a twi'lek, taught her the language of her people and how to read. Her first book was the manual of the smuggler's scrap heap. It took her years, but with some coaching from Teemo's official mechanic and many painful mistakes, she managed to get parts of the ship operational. They still ended up scrapping it for parts, but they would have to pull her out from within as they were dismantling it to keep her from toying with the machinery herself. She approached every project ravenously, often finding the ships to be more interesting than people. She had a drive and thirst for knowledge that motivated her to learn more than just what she was being taught. Over the years she became an invaluable asset to Teemo's mechanics team. Twenty-six years go by, and while she had more than repayed that old debt, Teemo was never going to let her go. But she's seen too many ships and too many opportunities come and go, and she wants to see more of this world than the perimeter of the Hutt's property.

She knew that she would have to do this right the first time, because if she attempted an escape and was caught for it there were no doubts in her mind that Teemo would ensure that she never could again. If he let her live, at least. So she started taking supplies for the escape long before the opportunity arrived. Nothing that would raise too much suspicion, though. Credits were out of the question so it was tools mostly, and other things she knows she might need to make a living away from this. She had been watching the trading ships come and go closely, but Teemo obviously has trust issues as every shipment was inspected meticulously. But the one ship that the Hutt never seemed bothered boy was the garbage disposal unit. It came by once in a month to collect the waste and take it to be disposed of. No one thought twice of the servant girl taking a bundle of trash to the disposal unit. She hid in the waste as it was loaded and carted away, where she would throw herself out with her equipment at the earliest opportunity. Any of the other servants she had grown to know would have called her stupid for this. She didn't have the worst living with Teemo the Hutt. Some might have said he had grown fond of her. But he chose that life for her, not herself. And now she was going to run to find a life that she chooses, with no looking back.

Motivation

The thrill of freedom (?)

Obligations
