Background

Dr Kerrash and his colleague Dr Wen achieved a degree of fame on Coruscunt within the medical community for their pioneering work on "talking cure" therapy for mental health problems. Dr Wen focussed more on the promotion, publicity, and academic work, whereas Dr Kerrash focussed more on developing the practical techniques and processes of their therapy. Although largely unknown to the average citizen on the street, their book "Talking it out" became an academic bestseller.

Kerrash's strength as a therapist lies in the combination of his 'regular' enthusiasm for learning more about how individual's work and his Force sensitivity - awakened at an early age by his paternal aunt, and then developed in private very much thereafter. Kerrash doesn't especially label his preternatural empathy and powers of prediction and persuasion as being due to "the Force" because that doesn't seem very scientific - yet on the other hand in himself he understands deeply that this fundamental *presence* in the universe remains irrational and unknowable.

Motivation

Expertise: Dr Kerrash is strongly driven towards excellence in his field - he is always intrigued by the thought and feeling processes of other sentient (well, at least organic sentient) life. He knows a little of human psychology, and even less about non-humans, but remains fascinated with developing more of an understanding. He is unlikely to waste any opportunity to try and find out more about other people's psychological character - players, NPCs, and even villains.

Obligations

Betrayal (10): after years of successfully working together, Dr Kerrash was unexpectedly betrayed by his colleague Dr Zilus Wen. He was reported to Imperial Security forces because of the Force sensitivity which Kerrash had confided in Wen about over the years. Dr Kerrash has no idea *why* he was betrayed - money? some kind of academic privilege? jealousy? On the long haul from Coruscunt to Tatooine, Kerrash has had plenty of time to let things stew in him.

Description

Dr Kerrash is about average height for a human, a little overweight from his largely sedentary role and background. He has short, neat, close-cropped hair which is shifting with his age from dark brown into a relatively distinguished grey. He has sharp, expressive, eyes - a powerful stare, but also a depth of vision in which his patients can almost see 'in' as well as he can see 'out'.

He has a somewhat non-standard pronunciation of Basic, occasionally slipping back into Z's for his T's in words like "the" or "their". He dislikes violence, mostly characterising it as unnecessarily "primitive" behaviour, but non-physical confrontation is more his style.

He is calm, quiet, and thoughtful - though more than a little troubled too by his inner demons (a struggle made worse due to his connection with the Force). On the one hand he recognises the contribution which his Force-sensitivity has made to his development as a therapist, but on the other he also feels the strong pull of the Dark Side whenever he exercises his talents freely.
