Ma'thir's biggest fear is not having a community, not having a purpose / raison d'etre in life.
Ma'thir's aspiration is to be able to understand the connections and community existing between everything, and to work towards achieving Harmony. Harmony between himself, the force, other sentients, creatures and nature. To achieve this purpose, he wants to be strong enough physically and spiritually to bring about this harmony . He believes that strength is attained through training, meditation and self-awareness, being "centered".
Ma'thir thinks of the force as a spectrum and recognizes that the "gray" force is a part of nature, life and death in balance. He favors the light side more though, because of the harmonious aspects of it. He believes that the truly dark side of the force is a corruption, an unnatural imbalance in the force and nature, which is inherently antithetical to harmony and must be opposed.
