Assets & Resources
• Special Abilities: Droids do not need to eat, sleep, or breathe, and are unaffected by toxins or poisons. Droids have a cybernetic implant cap of 6 instead of their Brawn rating.
• Inorganic: Since droids are inorganic, they do not gain the benefits of recovering with a bacta tank, stimpack, or Medicine skill checks. Droids do recover naturally by resting, as their systems attempt self-repairs. Otherwise, droids need to be tended to with a Mechanics check, using the same difficulties and results of Medicine checks for organic beings. Emergency repair patches can be used to repair damage just like stimpacks are used on organic beings.
• Mechanical Being: Droids cannot
be affected by mind-altering Force powers.
• Heuristic Processor: An advanced processor, a step up from the standard droid processor. The heuristic processor allowed a droid to learn by doing, rather than knowing and usually without instruction, which enabled droids to reason through several potential solutions to tasks and formulate the best approach.
• Vocabulator: Also known as a vocoder, was a speech synthesizer that was fitted to almost all types of droids that were intended to interact with sentient beings. Some droids, such as HK-series assassin droids and protocol droids - which were commonly fluent in many galactic languages - could use their vocabulators to mimic or impersonate the voices of other beings or creatures.
• Quadanium Steel: Also known as Quadanium alloy, was an extremely durable metallic substance. The surface of the first and second Death Stars were made of Quadanium steel. The planet Despayre was a source of Quadanium for the construction of the first Death Star. In addition, during the construction of the first Death Star, there were proposals for a completely encased Quadanium-steel-laden hull or a partial construction of Quadanium steel for the hull of the battlestation. The TIE/LN starfighter and all of its descendants were also made of Quadanium steel. Quadanium was a registered trademark within the Empire.
