Background
Reader is also known as CT-17-1123, part of a batch of intellectual clones. On Kamino, he and his batch brothers were called 'data heads', as they were always more interested in mechanics than fighting. Reader picked out his name because of his passion for reading. He would devour everything he could get access to on his datapad, every scrap of mission prep and some texts from beyond Kamino. He was sent into the war around the time of the Battle of Ryloth.
He and his batch brothers started out as a bouncing squad, shifting between stations to fulfill mechanical and medical requirements until new replacements came in. Reader was often a lab assistant in charge of testing new weapons for combat effectiveness. He'd lost two of his four batch brothers by the time Duchess Satine was accused of collaborating with Separatists. Around two Corusant months before the Battle of Kamino, Reader and his batch brothers caught the attention of Commander Trigger, the second in command of Jedi Master Mace Windu's 187th Legion. Reader and his surviving batch brothers, the ever polite medic Bandage and mechanic Trad, uncovered a Separatist spy at a weapons manufacturing factory on Naboo, posing as a scientist to sabotage the GAR. Reader uncovered the plot and Trad died protecting the factory, with Bandage's quick thinking saving all but one of the civilian scientists employed there.
Reader and Bandage were welcomed into the 187th as a weapons expert and a battalion medic respectively. During his service, Reader found the small section of clone data discussing inhibitor chips. While he only thought they suppressed anger, he was furious at the idea of being controlled and dreamed of citizenship after the war. He and Bandage saved up credits so when the 187th was at Coursant, they snuck off for an underworld medical exam that would remove their chips.
When Order 66 arrived, Reader was shocked and horrified, realizing the truth of the inhibitor chips. He took Bandage and ran, forever guilty over both his cowardice and for never helping his legion friends remove their own chips. Bandage began searching for something that would slow down the advanced aging process of a clone while Reader coped with his guilt, reading more texts and trying to expand his education.
Around 14 BBY, Reader and Bandage were recruited by a Nautolan Rebellion pilot named Bal Brurgoazz while working as a weapons repairer and doctor respectively on Iridonia. Reader became a valued scientist for the Rebellion, studying the Empire's tactics, assisting in what inventions the Rebellion could fund, and continuing to aid Bandage in their studies on slowing clone aging.
Motivation
Family: Even though most clones are either dead or Empire pawns, Reader still loves them. Bandage is his closest confidante. Reader wants a better world for clone survivors like himself.
Duties
Tech Procurement: Reader knows the Empire has been experimenting with the technology to slow down aging for some of its higher ups. His main mission with the Rebellion is to find this equipment.
Description
Reader looks to be around forty years old, although he is actually close to ten standard years, give or take. He has the same basic features of all clones: dark skin, black/brown hair, a strong jawline, but he's slowly gotten some defining characteristics. He's grown his hair long and keeps it in a ponytail. Should you lift it up, you can see the scar from where he took out his chip during the Clone Wars.
