Background
Character Background: The Outsider
Activated by a distressed crew as their space freighter buckled from a savage onslaught from attackers-unknown, BR-NG endeavored to perform its core functions optimally: provide first-class medical care to biological life forms. According to the droid's duty log, 15.3 seconds into its active service cycle, a massive hull breach rapidly deprived the human crew of all atmosphere, leaving BR-NG with no living patients.
As a limited-series, medical droid prototype, BR-NG was rapidly relegated to that of mere space debris. Per programmed contingency protocols, BR-NG self-initiated a high-level system hibernation, but a core system malfunction prevented spin-down of all high-level functions.
Drifting alone in the empty void of space, unable to sleep, the abandoned and damaged BR-NG was left only to its thought cycles to fill its storage logs.
Motivation
Relationship | Place of Origin: BR-NG strongly advocates prescribing preventative treatment plans. BR-NG was not able to properly treat its initial patients due to their space freighter being untimely destroyed. While eliminating these unknown perpetrators will not allow BR-NG to better care for its original crew, doing so will likely promote healthier outcomes in other potential patients. Therefore, the assailants' identification and eradication has been self-prescribed.
Obligations
Obligation: Oath - Certain aspects of the "Lucas-Critic-Cratic" Oath, a core tenant of BR-NG's programming, was extensively analyzed during the droid's tenure as space flotsam, and found to be excessively idealistic. Due to the nature of BR-NG's damage, it successfully altered portions of its ethical identify matrix, including its Oath algorithms. BR-NG strives to assist those deemed deserving of treatment and has no ethical qualms employing harm as a valid treatment method to improve patient prognosis.
