Background

Check was born on his home planet of Cerea. The Cereans binary brains made them exceedingly disciplined and traditional, however, this is not the case for the young Keiper Cassius. A bit scatterbrained and unorthodox, he was quickly singled out as the "other." His seclusion made him a ripe target for tormenting from the other children, and no one paid him enough mind to notice or care. In one instance, a few of his classmates dragged him to a nearby river and weighted him to the bottom under some rocks so only his nose was above. It was almost two days before his parents noticed he was missing and went to look for him. The only solace Check had was in coding software systems. This was the one circumstance in which his unconventional attitude was an asset. He was able to approach systems differently than most others which allowed him to bypass security systems and evade the other kids. in 23 BBY, Jedi Master Plo Koon came to Cerean on a mission to recruit younglings. Years before, Check had been judged to be force insensitive and was denied an audience with the Jedi master. Knowing this to be one of the only ways to get off-world for someone so young, Check snuck past the clone soldiers and very nearly stole Plo Koon's personal starfighter. After giving himself the authorization to take off, and unlocking the clamps holding down the ship, Check was ready to take off when one of the clone technicians noticed that the launch clamps had been released by a third party and quickly locked down the airfield. Thus, Check's play for freedom was quickly thwarted. In normal circumstances for Cerean culture, he would have been arrested and put to death for this action, however, this is not what Plo Koon did. Finding compassion for the young Cerean and knowing that he could not leave the child here, Plo Koon sensed some force sensitivity and decided to take him back to the temple to be trained as a Jedi Knight. It was here that Check first had friends. For once, being unusual and cast out was expected. He loved the Jedi, and this was his first real family, however, he was not a good one. While he had no lack of discipline, he lacked the natural talent for swordplay and force usage. Eventually, his fear of insignificance and disappointment, as well as his curiosity got the better of him, and he cracked the security systems to dive into the secret libraries of the Jedi temple to look for information that might make him better, stronger, and less of a disappointment to Plo Koon who spent so much time to get him to where he was. Check only remained in the forbidden archives for a few minutes, but it was long enough to learn the hypocrisy of the high council and it was long enough to shake his confidence in the purity of the longevity of the Jedi order. Fearing expulsion, Check told no one of what he had done but silently rides with the guilt of betraying the only trust that he was ever given.

Motivation

Equality: all sentient beings deserve the right to be treated with respect and as peers by other beings, regardless of their state of technological sophistication. when the character finds those who do not possess equality, he seeks to better their lot in life.

Morality

Enthusiasm: The character is always ready to try something new and he approaches all of his tasks even mundane ones with excitement.

Recklessness: of course, a little thought can go a long way towards saving someone from a major mistake which this character may find out to his sorrow on more than one occasion. Reckless behavior can leave him in dangerous situations or at the mercy of more calculating individuals.

Description

Standing only 5'4", Check is completely bald and has thick-rimmed reflective glasses, that obscure piercing yellow eyes, and an imposing brow. A prominent, unattractive nose is set in the center of his face at a slight angle as though it had been broken and healed incorrectly. His miniature mouth tends to be held in such a way that it gives him the appearance of being in a state of perpetual surprise.
