Background
When Yar'Veesa nar Isallan left on his Pilgrimage, he assumed he would return to the flotilla with a significant piece of technology or software, although he dreamed of coming back with a trove of credits, or, even better, a magnificent ship. What Yar'Veesa did not anticipate was both how hard life outside the flotilla could be, or how much more fun and exciting it is.
With some advice from his older brother, Yar'Veesa headed to the Terminus Systems in search of his gift. He was almost immediately accosted and robbed, left stranded on a backwater spaceport. He found some employment on a tramp freighter as a mechanic's assistant, and stayed with that crew for a while, picking up some of the shadier tricks of the trade that life in the Terminus Systems requires. However, the owner of the freighter eventually grew wise to the fact that the captain and the crew were skimming credits, and fired the lot of them. As Yar'Veesa was not officially part of the crew, he faded into the background at the next stop. He spent some more time, hoping from crew to crew, job to job, unable to find a stable life, until he was contacted by the Terminus Lancers as a tech specialist. He's nervous about joining a crew of mercenaries, but it seems like a promising adventure...
Yar'Veesa still claims that he is looking for the gift he is to return with, if he's pressed. But, in reality, it's not something he tries to think about much any more. Except, there are the nights spent bent over a broken piece of machinery that he misses the hum of Quarian engines, or the cozy confines of his old bunk.
