Coming from a family of little note. While working on his second doctoral degree, Raaz soon learned that it was much easier to obtain funds leveraging his Chiss military training to crime syndicates than it was going through the red tape of academic bureaucracy. After discovering a cache of old republic jedi and sith artifacts while excavating an old mining outpost, Raaz now trades and sells old republic artifacts throughout the Outer Rim to keep himself afloat (and constantly moving to avoid being picked up by the Crimson Dawn), keeping only the most precious for his research.

Raaz stumbled upon several force-sensitive artifacts apparently lost to time when the Old Republic Mining Outpost he was excavating was abandoned hundreds of years ago. After looking through the briefest glimpses of data on them he knew powerful people would seek them, and make him rich in the process. Rather than turning the information over to his employers, The Crimson Dawn, he's begun researching the artifacts aboard his ship and hopping across the outer rim, selling his information to any and every organization he can convince it benefits, while keeping the most prized secrets for himself.

Debt (Crimson Dawn) - Raaz owes the Crimson Dawn thousands of Credits for a less than above-board loan taken out to fund research into an abandoned Old Republic mining outpost. The Station contained information on the Old Republic and a small number of force-sensitive artifacts that were accidentally uncovered during the mining operation.
Addiction (Deathsticks) - Raaz picked up a deathstick habit as an undergraduate research assistant and now must smoke at least 4 or more a day to satiate his habit.
