Background
Groth was a successful merchant and "fixer" for the Iloto Clan on Bothawui. With a silver tongue and careful management of owed favors, he helped many a desperate fellow get out of trouble... for the right price. The War brought many opportunities to gain influence and credits on Bothawui, and Groth expertly took advantage of them. Trafficking information and materials, he played both sides of the conflict to exceptional results. It was clear to those around him that his star was on the rise. He was destined to become leader of his Clan and eventually take a seat on the Bothan council.
Blinded by the flattery that comes with success, Groth paid little attention to those in the Iloto Clan with similar aspirations for leadership. His blissful, arrogant ignorance made it easy to frame him with a litany of crimes against the Empire, leading to his imprisonment and deportation to an off-world penal colony.
Stripped of wealth and banished from his Clan, Groth is certain of only two things: His betrayer was someone very close to him, and they will seek to destroy him if he ever attempts to clear his name.
