Background

Born on a minor agra-world in mid rim Bothan space, Gaz led an uneventful life as a mechanic and laborer into his late 20s. Following an Alliance ambush of an Imperial transport wing in the skies above his planet, Gaz returned home to find a crashed Y-wing on the county road to his parents homestead. There was no sign of the pilot or astromech, and he would soon discover his parents homestead burning and themselves and the neighboring landowners and laborers dead, executed by firing squad and clearly part of an Imperial reprisal.

Gaz, furious, packed his bags and made his way to the planetary spaceport and booked passage out for Bothawui. From there he made preliminary contact with an Alliance recruiter; initially doubtful of his story for security reasons, Gaz convinced the recruiter to just look into the homestead reprisal. Gaz also mentioned as evidence that before leaving, as evidence of his presence and capability, he had rigged the chemical fertilizer tanks at the otherwise untouched south barn to overpressure and pop like a hot water heater. Days later and with the recruiter seemingly convinced, Gaz was transported off world for formal Alliance training as a saboteur.

As the game begins, Gaz has been at Outpost Dagger for about a week and half. Long enough to start forming a routine, though not long enough to be fully familiar with the entirety of the base and its crew. Outpost Dagger is his first assignment out of Alliance training, being embedded as an ordinance technician to learn base operations before moving onto combat operations, or so was the intent...

Motivation

Gaz can recite reasons why the Republic needs to be restored, but if you hang around him and watch him work long enough you'll see him marking numbers on ordinance he wires or loads. You might get the sense he sees that restoration as coming one bomb at a time; and considering as the Imperials murdered his family and neighbors and burned his home to the ground, you wouldn't be wrong to wonder what's really in his head.

Duties

Dual Focus:
- Sabotage: Gaz is on a course of being educated and trained as a sapper, not a soldier. Mechanical sabotage, traps, bombs, mines, and ordinance recovery/disposal are to eventually become his assigned duties once he is through initial service rotation and assigned to a more permanent unit.
- Support: In Gaz's current assignment fresh out of Alliance academy, he's been detailed to mechanical support at Outpost Dagger to learn base operations and get some hands on time handling starfighter ordinance and maintenance.

Description

Standing 5ft 9in, with dark scraggy hair and mutton chops. Gaz is almost always seen wearing a set of drab green overalls that are stained and charred in various places, usually with a padded vest and extremity protections when handling ordinance.
