Background

Lontek'Skarat'Nefkek (Lon) was born in 31 BFE on Pipada. He developed a natural talent for computers and excelled in his studies, especially in history and mathematics. He was also very outspoken in politics from an early age, being elected class president at the university he attended and taking a loud public stand against the exploitation of Pipada's natural mineral resources by corporations which were part of the Republic. In a radio broadcast which was able to be heard by the entire planet, Lon declared the Republic a corrupt institution which oppressed many non-Human planets in the Outer Rim. This broadcast received much attention and was even heard by a few off-world travelers. Lon graduated from his university in 10 BFE with degrees in computer science and history, and he began working as an administrator of the largest communication grid on Pipada, monitoring intra-planet and extra-planet communications and ensuring the grid was consistently up and running. During this time, he still regularly led and joined protests to stop mineral extraction on Pipada by Republic corporations. Many of these protests were crushed violently by mercenaries hired by the Republic, and Lon was eventually fired from his job for participating in them.

In 5 BFE, when the Confederacy of Independent Systems was formed, Lon was personally approached by Bec Lawise, leader of the Separatist Congress, and offered a role as a military analyst in the CIS, in case war ever broke out with the Republic. Due to his disdain for the Republic and eager for an opportunity to learn more about the galaxy, he accepted this position. Lon left Pipada for the first time in his life and quickly began studying vigorously on the subjects of warfare, galactic history, and planets both in the Core Worlds and the Outer Rim. When the Clone Wars broke out two years later, his expansive knowledge and tactical prowess proved invaluable to the Separatists' battle strategy, and he quickly rose in their ranks to become one of the Confederacy's chief military analysts. Thanks to his research on countless galactic worlds, he was able to make sound tactical recommendations which helped win many battles for the Confederacy. He occasionally worked with high-ranking CIS military officials in-person, such as General Whorm Loathsom and Admiral Trench, whom he admired for their strategic minds. Through his strategies, Lon predicted the war would end with a quick and decisive victory for the Separatists.

During Lon's career in the Separatist Alliance, he became friends with Zarr Raelon, a Skakoan engineer who worked for the Techno Union. Although Lon was wary of the Techno Union, as it was a large corporation claiming to maintain neutrality in the Clone Wars, he trusted and often worked with Raelon, who put Lon's ideas into practice. Raelon understood how to construct prototypes to accomplish tactics that Lon developed. Their cooperation led to many victories for the CIS. During the Separatist invasion of Von-Alai, Lon was tasked with finding a way to capture the Republic's fortress on the planet, which also contained many civilians which had fled to the stronghold. Lon discovered a weakness in the walls of the fortress which could be exploited, and Raelon developed a droid that could penetrate the wall. With this droid, Lon developed a plan that would allow the Separatists to take control of the fortress with minimal casualties. However, before the strategy could be enacted, Raelon fled the system, and the droid proved ineffective as the Republic had developed a countermeasure. Lon concluded that Raelon must have defected to the Republic, which fueled his distrust of the Techno Union and any other corporations. As a result of the countermeasure, Lon was forced to develop a strategy that required a more frontal assault. The subsequent Separatist attack resulted in the capture of the fortress with a great loss to civilian life. Lon blames Raelon for the massacre.

When the war prolonged and the tide turned in favor of the Republic, Lon believed the main reason for this was the presence of the Jedi as Republic commanders. Thus he began researching as best he could on the history of the Jedi, their values, and their tactics. When conducting this investigation, he pondered if the rumors of Count Dooku, the Head of State of the CIS, being a Sith, the ancient enemy of the Jedi, was true. Lon didn't venture any further with this hypothesis, as he had no evidence to reinforce this claim. He didn't particularly care if it was true as well, since he saw the Jedi and Sith as two incidental religions that would likely be on opposite sides of a war. Using the knowledge he gained, he attempted to devise strategies which would exploit the Jedis' weaknesses for various battles. Nevertheless, to Lon's confusion, many of those battles resulted in losses for the Separatists.

Towards the end of the war, he started to acquire a feeling that the Separatists were deliberately placed in positions to lose battles, which greatly disconcerted him. After the deaths of Count Dooku as well as General Grievous, Supreme Commander of the Separatist Droid Army, Lon received a message to retreat to the Mustafar system and stay safe until a peaceful resolution to the war was made. Feeling uneasy about the end of the war entirely, he instead chose to find a transport to a remote location and go off-grid until the situation settled. The events which transpired soon afterward, including the execution of the Separatist Council, the Jedi Purge, and the formation of the Galactic Empire shocked Lon, which along with rumors that the new Emperor was a Sith caused him to begin to suspect that the Clone Wars themselves were a tool used so that this new tyrannical Empire could form. However, he was never certain of this theory, and nonetheless primarily blamed the Republic's corrupt institutions for allowing the Empire to form. Since Lon never traveled to Mustafar and was not captured or killed by the Empire, the Empire has publicly listed him as a wanted war criminal, and he has been accused of causing thousands of civilian deaths during the Clone Wars. Since the formation of the Empire, Lon has attempted to keep a low profile, gathering more knowledge to eventually help end the reign of the Empire. Through his knowledge on computers, he has managed to create a fake identification chip which lists his name as "Lon Darin." He hopes to one day take real action against the oppression of the Empire.

Motivation

Lon has always wanted freedom and fair treatment for his homeworld, Pipada. Since the Empire has come into power, Pipada has only become more oppressed as the Empire continues to scar the world as it mines its natural resources. Though Lon's fellow Drabatans have fought back and a few have joined the Rebellion, Pipada nevertheless remains under strict martial law. Lon aspires for his world to one day be free.

Obligations

Wanted (10): Lon is listed as a Separatist war criminal and is accused of a litany of crimes, including treason, conspiracy, and genocide. It is very possible there is a bounty on his head, and the Empire could want him dead or alive. Even though he has been wanted for over 19 years, some bounty hunters or Imperial officials may still seek to capture or kill him if given the opportunity, whether for money or clout.
