Background
Blaine Sunderstar is a human born on the planet of Kuat. In his late twenties, he is the nephew of the Andrim family, one of ‘Ten’ powerful merchant families on Kuat. A corporate lawyer, he is often employed by Kuat Drive Yards, the largest shipbuilding corporation in the galaxy.
The friends of Blaine would describe him as intelligent, charismatic, confident bordering on arrogant, defiant and in possession of a silver tongue. His good looks and charming manner make his elegant use of words twice as powerful. A natural leader that inspires confidence in others where they have none.
Much, though not all, of his arrogance is for show. As is his profession and that of his family’s. Trying to blend in, a shadow amongst tyrants. His parents, Helio and Piana Sunderstar, are both high ranking officials within the Kuat Drive Yards company. They have been feeding the Rebels design schematics and ship prototypes, in order to help them spot weaknesses and just generally be better informed about Imperial starships. Their relatives, the Andrim family, are in league with Bail Organa, the Alderaanian that has close ties with the Rebellion; or they were before Organa and his people were blown up by the world destroying Death Star. Since that fateful day, the Andrim family have kept their activities and scheme incredibly secret. Even Drake and his family have been kept out of the loop for fear of detection.
Drake’s efforts to undermine the Empire have doubled however. Whilst acting as a simple corporate lawyer, he’s been using his access to privileged information to leak sensitive data that could cause the Empire real harm.
Whilst not proficient in ranged combat, he is an excellent athlete and shows excellent martial prowess with a vibro-sword. None of this development happened before he met Romund however. It was she that taught him these skills. Romund, the woman that changed his understanding of the Galaxy forever. The meeting had been unusual. Romund was interested in a unique artefact that was being stored at his family home. Battle armour that had belonged to his long dead ancestor. Drake, as well as his living relatives, had not known his ancestor was a Jedi Master. It took Romund to reveal this to him. The cortosis armour was rare. She explained that it protected Jedi from the lightsabers of the Sith.
It was during this meeting that she asked more questions about his ancestor. Drake new of one more artefact, one kept hidden in his family home. A lightsaber. The crystal had long since disappeared, but the hilt was still there, hidden amongst other, less unique items. His parents had told him that the Empire could have them executed for treason should they ever discover its location. Drake could remember explaining this ancient weapon to Romund.
“It’s strange. The effect it has. Isn’t it?” he had told her.
“What’s strange, what effect?” she replied, eyebrow raised.
“That funny feeling, when you look at it. Can you not feel it? The armour has the same effect but this is much stronger. It’s like I can feel my ancestor’s presence or something.”
“I feel nothing Drake. Tell me, have you spoken to anyone else about this...feeling?”
“You mean you can’t feel that?”
“No. Only very few can. You probably feel it more than most, given your ancestry. There is more to you than you know, Drake Sunderstar. Much more...”
That was the first of many such conversations between the two. She had told him that he was one of a few force sensitives she had come across in her time. They had engaged in a few lessons, and she revealed more about his gifts. Though she did not have this unique talent, this innate gift, she knew how to unlock it in him. Perhaps more importantly though, she revealed the dangers his talents put him and his family in.
Since that day, she periodically returned in secret to continue his lessons. Until now, he has received word that she has gone missing. He has answered the call, knowing he may be walking into a trap.
Motivation
Blaine is motivated to bring an end to the reign of the Emperor. Despite this, he does see the value in an Emperor. He just doesn't think Palpatine is the one for the job. He believes that an inspiring, good and just individual, such as Bail Organa, or his daughter, Princess Leia, would be more than suitable for the roll.
He has been known to help the Rebellion, although he sees this group as a way to bring about change the Empire, rather than just simply bringing it down.
Blaine is also motivated by a desire to learn and develop his talents, so that he can ultimately improve his knowledge and understanding of the Force to better influence the Galaxy. This lust for knowledge may end up getting him in trouble however.
Morality
Strength: Justice - Blaine convinced the Galaxy is out of kilter, and is determined to bring about change. He hates those that manipulate power and the trust placed on those in power. His lifelong ambition is for fairness and equality to be the norm of the day.
Weakness: Arrogance - Despite his good nature and desire to do good, Blaine does sometimes suffer from delusions of grandeur. His natural intelligence might prevent him from making some mistakes that a fool might make, he does have a habit of offending others in positions of power, or causing a disturbance when none was required.
Description
At just under 6ft and approximately 80kgs, Blaine strikes the figure of a fairly ordinary human. His dark wavy hair is accompanied by a neatly trimmed beard, as is common of those that live in the capital city of Kuat.
His handsome face is complimented by mysterious green eyes that show both wisdom and passion.
