Background
As a child Trab always looked to the stars and wanted to fly among them. Born before the Clone Wars, Trab remembers the war and The Separatist blockade of his Outer Rim home world, Pantora. Soon after the resolution of the blockade he joined a freighter crew to learn the ropes and follow his dreams. He quickly became the co-pilot on The Nova Traveler, a C-ROC Gozanti-class cruiser, and started to explore other worlds closer to the Core systems. As the Empire began to heavily regulate trade in the Core and Mid Rim worlds, regular jobs became difficult and Trab’s crew was pushed back into the more dangerous Outer Rim systems.
To make a few extra credits to cover fuel cost, the captain of The Star Traveler took on a pair of Bounty Hunters that used the ship as a base of operations. Trab started hanging out with the hunters during the travel times, listening to their tales and adventures. They filled his young head with dreams of credits, fast ships to fly, and adventure. On his 21st birth year, Trab left The Star Traveler to become the pilot for a small bounty hunting team. By the age of 24, Trab had acquired a venerable YT-1300, The Harm’s Way, had he earned his Imperial Peace-Keeping Certificate (IPKC), and was working on his own.
Trab learned to live by a code that many professional bounty hunters follow; take them alive, kill an enemy if you have no choice, don’t murder. This code stuck with him as he became a Journeyman Bounty Hunter. He made a good living hunting down all manner of bounties from the Core Systems to the Outer Rim. Around 4 BBY Trab began to see the Empire’s Iron Fist approach to many systems as he traveled in the Outer Rim. He also began to see bounty posting for ordinary Imperial citizens which was a cause for concern. Trab took one of these jobs and captured a Mon Cal in the Dressel system. While transporting the Mon Cal back to the Core the YT-1300 primary hyperdrive blew out and he had to switch to the much slower backup hyperdrive while he tried to repair The Harm’s Way.
Trab and the Mon Cal, Kas Oik, began to talk during the repairs. Kas began to tell Trab about his life and why he thought the Empire had a bounty out for him, Kas was working for a small group wanting to be free. He told of horrible stories of Imperial war crimes from his home planet and other stories from many systems that have been enslaved. Kas spoke of many like minded groups looking to stand up to the Empire. After a few weeks, they were nearing the Nixor system and Trab decided to drop out of hyperspace to acquire a part at the old spaceport in the system to repair primary hyperdrive.
It was during this stop Kas was able to trigger a small rescue beacon and a Bothan cell was able to contact the Rebel Operative. Before a rescue was attempted Kas shared with Trab what was about to happen and offered him a deal. Work for the rebellion and use his IPKC as his cover and the Rebel cell would provide fuel, parts, and safe haven ports. During the last few weeks Trab and Kas had developed a working relationship and Trab decided to join this group of freedom fighters.
The following 4 years saw small groups of Rebels grow into a large movement against the Empire. During this time Trab found and secured supplies for the Rebellion, hunted Imperial droids for intel gathering, and began to fly support ships during hit and run missions. He flew all manner of shuttles, militarized freighters, and even a U-wing. After the Battle of Scarif which led to the destruction of The Death Star at the Battle of Yavin rebel fighter pilots became scarce. Rebel Commanders spread the word that pilots were needed as fighter pilots and Trab assigned to a fighter group.
