Conscripted to the Imperial Navy, Garion was a gifted pilot, if a bit insubordinate. Relegated to the role of a transport pilot, he witness first hand the horrible treatment of the innocent by the Empire and others such as slavers and criminals. Believing he could undue some of this mistreatment, would use his craft off-books to transport food and medical supplies to the needy. For a while, it worked, but eventually he was caught in the act, dishonorably discharged from service, and sentence to a long prison term.
