Tav is 14 so he knows nothing about the government in power before the empire other then basic information that is common knowledge and what the Empire feeds to the masses (even though at time Tav is barely listening to that as well). Tav is an orphan, fate of mother unknown assumed dead all he has is a dull rock wrapped around his neck that belonged to her. His father died in a work related accident at Bracca cause of the Scrapyard Guild's poor Work Environment getting even worse under the Empire oversight. Tav lived most of his life on Bracca so he has no concept of the bigger galaxy, but he does have some basic knowledge of the universe thanks to old astrogate records found on the Star Destroyers he was commissioned to take apart. I think as Ralph shares his stories of his adventures around the galaxy, Tav would catch up Ralph to what he's missed since being "decommissioned".

Things you would probably pick up on Tav is he speaks plain doesn't like to beat around the bush. He finds it easier to talk to Droids since he feel droids are easier to understand since their intentions are always pure and their actions are designated by their personality (programming). He find organics hard to understand because their morality and alliances are to shaky and unstable. Tav (and Ralph as well after they met) have gone through a couple betrayals already dealing with shady people. Tav hates killing, but understands that their are just certain situations where it's inevitable so he understands why others kill. He just believes life is sacred be it organic or droid. However, he has a side hustle modify and recommissioning old military weaponry selling them on the black market. It bothers him a bit cause it goes against his belief, but he adds a stun modification to all his weapons he sells which puts him at ease knowing that in the end the user had a choice.

Ralph is the only family I really have now, and even though he's a droid he is my best friend and I would do anything for him.

Tav has an obsession with breaking down and studying tech. He has an impulse to tear things apart and see how they work of course with consent.
