Background
Born a slave belonging to a wealthy trader on Corellia Spike Starstriker had a rough early life where he was forced to lie and charm his way to a full meal.
Though the trader tried to break him through beatings if he disobeyed or didn't listen, Spike only grew more rebellious. Until that is, the trader discovered that Spike hated him hurting the other slaves or Spike' mother. With this discovery, and a promise that he would start killing them if Spike didn't step into line. Spike behaved, and the trader though he had broken him. He was wrong.
At 13 Spike staged a revolt with the other slaves, killing the trader and fleeing into the Blue Sector of Coronet City. Many of the slaves died in the fight. Unfortunately, his mother was among those killed and Spike, now motherless and with no one but a few of his fellow slaves, he ended up on the streets.
There he met a Pantoran street kid named Kyra, they became fast friends as she took him under her wing and showed him and his fellow slaves how to survive on the streets of Corellia.
Together Spike and Kyra formed a street gang known as the Mynocks, boosting ship parts and power cells from spaceports. The Mynocks slowly grew, gaining more and more street kids and those who became homeless, Spike making sure that everyone had enough to eat and a safe place to sleep with Kyra’s help.
Stormtroopers began raiding the safe houses that Spike and Kyra had set up in an abandoned building so Kyra decided that they needed to rotate where people were staying, never staying in a building more than a few days before relocating to a new place.
Eventually, Spike and Kyra decided to make a bold move and take a big step up in their theft. They had been watching a spaceport for a few months and learned when a group of smugglers known as the Car’das smugglers had ships there and when they were unguarded. Spike and Kyra quickly boarded one of the light freighters while The Mynocks distracted the guard, then took off. They managed to break atmo before the ship was stopped by 4 fighters and Jorj Car’das himself.
Cardas offered them both a position on one of his crews after being impressed by the skill and competency of the two 17-year-olds. They accepted, seeing the offer as a ticket to a better life. They also made a promise to make sure that their friends on Corellia wouldn’t be forgotten.
Over the next 4 years, they worked their way up the ranks going from meer crew to actually having a ship of their own.
When they got their own ship they tracked down their old friends from the streets and hired them as the crew. Things were good for a while but unfortunately they ran into trouble when doing a job for Car’das, the empire showed up and due to a misstep by Spike caused his ship, his crew, the cargo for Car’das, and most importantly Kyra to be taken by the empire. Spike would have been as well but Car’das managed to pull some strings and get him out.
Car’das was furious that Spike lost the shipment as well as his whole ship and crew. Car’das told Spike that he owed him big time before turning him loose and kicking him to the outer rim. Spike was crushed and guilt-ridden as he bounced between jobs and crews just trying to make ends meet. That is where his story was picked up in game.
Motivation
-- M O T I V A T I O N --
Overthrow the Empire:
The Empire wronged me and hurt someone I cared deeply about. I am going to stop that from happening to anyone again.
Comrades:
I would do anything to protect and help my friends and companions.
Spike blames himself for Kyra's death. He is heartbroken at losing who was essentially his big sister because of something that in his mind he was responsible for.
He is now throwing himself into taking down the empire at all costs and preventing this from happening to anyone else. He also isn't gonna let anyone else die. He will never leave anyone behind again
