Lyen was born into a family he doesn't remember. He was taken by the Jedi order when he was a little more than a couple years old. His master, Jaden Troppe, taught him in the deceptive arts of the force, but most importantly, he was taught very strong and effective lightsaber combat. Even though he is very effective in the fifth form of lightsaber fighting, Shien, and the use of his double bladed lightsaber, he tries to settle conflicts through words first. He learned to be very patient, reserved, and disciplined. Throughout the Clone Wars, he fought beside his master, gathering experience, and learning valuable lessons. By this time he was a grown man, a knight of the Jedi order. Then came the purge. His master was killed while on a mission, Lyen just barely escaped with his life. Now, he's using the skills taught to him, guided by the force, to survive the Empires hunt of the Jedi.

After experiencing his masters death, Lyen realized he needs to become stronger to survive these trying times. Sometimes, however, this need to survive becomes a want for more power, slightly tempting Lyen towards the dark side. He realizes he needs to be careful about this.
