Formally an Imperial security droid, K-3G8 gained sentience because of a bug in there coding, while still believing in the greatness of the Empire and seeing the galaxy needed them to stay safe, he realized they can not be part of it, as if someone discovered he had become sentient they would be disposed of as a liability. Sentience came to K-3G8 at the worst time, as the very next day, the Imperial regional governor, to which he were assigned, was killed by a Rebel group, after hearing of this, he blamed himself and the fact he was not there to protect them, after this he vowed to never again cause others to die because of his cowardliness and believes whatever damage is dealt to him is damage not dealt to others.

Support the Empire
Even after gaining sentience and the threat the Empire now imposed on his new found consciousness, he still sees life in a Empire controlled galaxy preferable to the alternatives and wishes to one day be able to serve them once more, but does not see his own mind as a fair trade and would rather live outside of it for the time being.
Honor in Battle
K-3G8 still feels guilt for the death of those he was supposed to protect, and strives to never make that mistake again, he strives to take the brunt of the damage so others feel as least pain as possible, even if they are droids. (Tries to take on atleast 50% of the gross damage the party takes while he is with it, but will automatically fail if any party member gain a critical injury thanks to reaching wound threshold)

Oath (15)
Has vowed to do his best to keep others from harm, mainly by taking on the damage himself, as that is the simplest way he could think of.
