Background
Born to the Brood family of counselors in the city of Maldis on Iradonia, Kino was always destined for greatness. While his parents believed that greatness would follow in their footsteps as counselors, they were honored when Jedi masters arrived to inform them their son would be trained by the Order. Kino's only memories of those days were of a simple life full of any pleasure he asked for.
During his early days at the Temple, Kino struggled with almost everything. He failed to wrap his mind around the lengthy and meandering teachings of the masters, and his connection to the Force never felt how others described it. It seemed less a gentle flow of energy that he could sense in everything and more a coursing river that gave him strength. But he did excel in two fields: martial training and ethics. It is no surprise, given his peoples heritage, that he would master any blade, but he also developed a keen sense of right and wrong and the appropriate resolution to each. It was these attributes that convinced Jedi Master Kellian Jarro to take Kino as his padawan.
Master Jarro saw in Kino someone who could be a worthy successor and a staunch martial defender of the Jedi Order. He has tried to teach Kino the basics of lightsaber combat, how to use the Force to enhance Kino's natural talents, and why the Jedi are worth defending. Despite Kino's aptitude for such as task, Jarro has his reservations due to Kino's over confidence and judgmental nature.
Kino has only been allowed to visit his home world once since becoming a padawan to perform his people's ritual upon reaching maturity.
Motivation
Challenges: Legacy
As a young child, Kino believed he would make a name for himself by introducing some ground breaking legislation or by being the most popular counselor to ever live. When he became a padawan, he instantly surpassed any fame he would have acquired living on Iradonia. At the same time though, the bar of excellency was raised to a height he previously thought unattainable, and his goals have had to adjust accordingly. Kino is not content with just being recognized as A Jedi, and wishes to be recognized as THE Jedi, the one who everyone knows about and can name. Yet not even that is enough for him, because he wishes to never be forgotten. He strives to find some way to leave a lasting mark on this generation and all to come, so that his name will not be forgotten.
