Background
THE POOR AND HUNGRY
On some worlds, resources are so scarce that every one must constantly scramble to obtain the basic
necessities of life. From early childhood, individuals are expected to contribute in a meaningful way
to increase their family’s odds of survival. On worlds where resources are more readily available, there still exist subcultures where families live in desperation, constantly in search of their next meal.
Individuals who live in constant want may be able to accept this situation as the norm, readily learning to make do with the assets that are available and living this way for the rest of their lives. Alternatively, some become obsessed with material possessions, spending all of their time focused on obtaining more.
Characters with either outlook often work carefully to plan and manage their resources. When someone isn’t sure where the next meal may be coming from, it helps encourage them to be cautious in their actions. Of course, some characters with this background may be exceptionally cavalier in their endeavors, secure in the knowledge that they have nothing to lose.
ONE WITH THE FORCE
Some adepts are so deeply grounded in the Force that it influences their every action. These characters constantly perceive the world through its lens, and it decides their every thought. Often, their education has included a thorough grounding in Force philosophies, so that they choose to act with deliberate devotion to the light (or dark) side of the Force.
Such knowledge is deliberately suppressed in the Empire and thus incredibly hard to come by. Flow
ever, it is not impossible. A character with this background may have been raised by one of the last Jedi to escape the purges, who, before dying, passed on a measure of knowledge of the Force to the character.
Alternatively, the character may have known someone their knowledge. A former Republic soldier or sympathetic Senator, an old friend of the Jedi, or even an ally who worked with the Jedi but was not Force-sensitive may have escaped the Emperor’s purges and passed on what he has learned. It may be that the character is one of those individuals, and as he has aged, he has realised that he too can tap into the power of the Force.
DESIRE FOR UNDERSTANDING
Having realized he has some untapped power at his disposal, the character now wishes to know what this power is. Simple research on his home planet or via the HoloNet has yielded nothing, so he must set out into the wider galaxy to see what he can learn about his odd abilities.

Description
SAGE
Many Consulars know the universal truth: knowledge is power, and understanding a situation can give one a decisive advantage. This holds just as true when resolving disputes or negotiations as it does on the battlefield. A Sage focuses on studying the world around him, recognizing that information offers tremendous advantages to himself and his allies. He then uses that power to help change the hearts and minds of others to achieve his goals.
Equal parts scholar and diplomat, Sages gain the additional career skills Astrogation, Charm, Cool,
and Knowledge (Lore). If this is a PC’s first specialization, the PC gains one rank in each of two of these skills. Sages see knowledge and understanding as the basis for long-term peace and harmony. It is their belief that hatred often springs from ignorance. When a sentient comes to appreciate the backgrounds of another being’s beliefs and practices, it becomes fareasier not only accept that being but to feel compassion for him.
Some researchers may become lost in their academic pursuits, obsessing over dry facts while blind
to the plight of the weak and helpless. Not so a Sage, who maintains connections to those around him
via the Living Force. The Force provides a means of grounding Sages’ studies so that they keep what they learn in perspective, always mindful of how they can use their knowledge to help others.
NAUTOLAN
Physiology:
Nautolans are a natively aquatic humanoid species capable of breathing underwater. Webbed toes and fingers aid them in swimming through the depths. A dense cartilaginous support network combines with a bony endoskeleton to make them exceptionally tough. Lengthy green tendrils emerge fromtheir heads, serving as sensory organs that detect the pheromones of nearby sentients. Their large black eyes are adapted to pierce the murkiest underwaterenvironments. However, Nautolans are capable of surviving for extended periods on dry land.
Society:
An elected Council of Elders forms the centralized government for Nautolan settlements. On Glee Anselm, representatives from each settlement cooperate to form an overarching centralized government.Notably, "elder” is a title of respect, as representatives are elected based upon merit rather than age. Nautolans mate for life and are extremely loyal to their families. Both parents contribute equally to raising their young. Historically, Nautolan parents arranged marriages for their children, but in modern times this has become much less common. Nautolan moods often reflect those of nearby sentients due to the pheromone sensitivity of their tendrils. As a broad generalization, Nautolans are happy and free-spirited, particularly when given an opportunity to pursue their interests. However, when confronted with anger or despair, members of this empathetic species are prone to respond iri kind. Homeworld: Glee Anselm is a Mid Rim world filled with a broad range of aquatic environments. Its few landmasses are largely archipelagos. While Nautolans evolved in Glee Anselm's oceans, another unrelated species—the Anselmi—arose to dwell upon its land-masses. Constant fighting over the land turned the Anselmi into a warlike people. This has led to many conflicts throughout the world’s history.
Language: Nautolans’ native language is Nautila, which was originally created for underwater use. In atmosphere, the language is largely unpronounceable, as it is dependent upon pheromones that are dispersed through the water in conjunction with spoken sounds.
Consequently, Nautolans invariably learn to speak an other language, most commonly Basic or Anselmian.
Perception of the Force: Many Nautolans recognize the significance of the Force, and there were numerous Nautolan Jedi. However, the Force does not play a central role in Nautolan culture.
